I follow FITSNews pretty closely and have never known them to report false information. They were the first source (other than Sami’s dad’s FB) to report that she was found.
ITA that the story is unbelievable, but I have this nagging thing in the back of my head.
I thought about DNA, too. I think it’s because what we know is relatively limited at this point..
Y’all. Is there any chance that NR was actually passed out at a party?
The thing that keeps me thinking that he’s the perpetrator is the fact that he was arrested so close to Five Points.
I need information. Nothing for days now and I’m making myself crazy...
That stood out to me, too. Clarendon Co. is small, Mount Zion is even smaller. I went to high school in a similar, rural, SC town (and I teach there now!) and everybody knows everybody somehow. We don't have six degrees of Kevin Bacon; we have two degrees of your momma's cousin. :) That...
Scanned really quick and don't think this has been posted. If you live in the south, you (especially) understand the racial implications of this case. Small town SC, people are afraid to talk for fear of retaliation. My heart aches. However, it sounds as if the diligent police work is paying...
Yup, we discussed last night. I drive a 2016 Nissan Murano, and the only way to engage the child safety locks is for me to open a rear door and flip a switch. I can child lock windows from driver's seat, but cannot child lock doors. My car doors lock automatically once I'm over 10(?) mph, but...
I am 99% sure that they told us in orientation that U of SC police will pick kids up, no questions asked.
There are also shuttles, but they only run to and from Campus. She lived off.
ETA: I can ask daughter tomorrow...though she may not know, either.
I swear, we try to do everything right as...
We (more or less) know she wasn't shot.
The *RAGE* I can imagine that he had is terrifying. My stomach turns when I think of how Sami felt, trapped in that car.
Peaked in high school (basketball star), flunked out of college...? (Did he even really go to SCSU?!)
Absolutely no violent criminal...
Plenty going on in Cola and Charleston. Five Points wasn't the best area 18 years ago when I hung out there; it hasn't gotten any better. IMO there should be a MAJOR push to keep the riff raff out. The majority of their clientele is UofSC students/sports spectators. They've really cracked...
You get car description, driver's name, driver's picture, and license plate number. Chances are slim to none that she was waiting on a dark colored Impala.
The accused's name shows up as a resident in several SC counties. I certainly hope any unsolved crimes in those areas, particularly those involving young women, are reinvestigated since they will have his DNA now.
I've been very impressed with the police work thus far. Let's hope it continues.
Re: your ETA: Yes, a student died by suicide in a parking deck on main campus a week ago tomorrow.
A student from USC Salkehatchie died yesterday at baseball practice. This is beyond belief.
