GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

Dear Websleuth Members, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll start here. I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong section. As you know from my earlier post, I'm working on a book about this case. Because of that, I go up to the prison on Thursdays and interview Brian Gore...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

At 1:30 pm today the judge walked into the courtroom and said, "In response to the charges against the defendants, I find the defendants guilty." He did not give any other statements, and then proceeded to set a sentencing date for July 22. Quote of the day: After he read the verdict, the...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

Yesterday’s trial continued with only two witnesses: Lt. Scott Little of the Gloucester Sheriff’s Department and Dr. Owsley of the Smithsonian Institute. Lt. Little testified about forensic examination of digital pictures and answered a number of questions related to how to determine if a...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

This case, which is so close to where I live, has haunted me for years now, as it has so many of you. My life has changed from this, as did many other lives. I finally decided that, as a writer, it was time for me to begin writing this book (until now all of my books have been...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

Lera, I just saw it on the evening news. I was very surprised to hear that Sunshine was released, as our social worker told us she would not be able to go into a home at this time. Perhaps they just didn't want her in a home in this area. Here's the link to the WAVY news segment, pretty much the...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

Today's Daily Press ran a story, "Caged Girls Condition Closely Guarded", that essentially says there is nothing to report about Sunshine. Here's the link: http://www.dailypress.com/news/gloucester-county/dp-nws-gloucester-gore-child-0810-20110809,0,5987680.story

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

According to this morning's Daily Press, "The initial court appearance of the Gloucester couple charged with imprisoning one child and killing another has been pushed back several months." I read this in the local section of our paper but cannot find the online version to link it. I'll just...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

Camille: I went back and found the first article where Sunshine's name is mentioned in the comments section dated May 17: http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/mother-not-home-when-child-died The person making the comment tries to state that the little girl's name was mentioned in court...

truecrimejunkie, I was thinking the same thing. It would have been super easy to get rid of that piece of evidence, obviously she held onto it for other reasons. Maybe she wants to get caught? I'd also love to know who she's talking to on the prison phone, wondering if others are in on whatever...

IL - Alexus Smothers, 8, drowned, body hidden in crawlspace, 19 July 2011

According to the news article, "The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services said Jophlin, a mother of three, had her children taken away in 2004 because of abuse and neglect allegations. The children were returned to her care in 2005." There's something wrong with a system that...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

This case has taken what I believe to be quite the ominous turn. We all know that these two people are the worst of the worst, but now it looks like they've found more evidence that SG has something else to hide. Apparently she hid a memory card in her bra, stuffed in there from the time of her...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

I checked, they haven't posted it online yet. They did the interview in 3 parts (for ratings) and aired it at 5, 5:30 and 6. I watched all three and each time SGs mother spoke it seemed to me like she was trying to elicit sympathy from the community (poor us, we didn't know, we didn't know)...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

I'm watching SGs mother on the tv interview and all I can think is that she's a big liar. A big, huge liar. She claims she went to visit her daughter almost every day and NEVER saw the evidence of Sunshine... she's blaming her daughter's lies and secrets on immaturity. is what I say.

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

WAVY news 10 is going to air an interview tomorrow night (Monday, 5pm) with SG's mother. The woman apparently agreed to speak as long as her face was not shown. The reporter who did the interview seemed sort of weirded out by the whole thing, as in "this interview raises more questions than...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

So, way back in the beginning of this thread it's mentioned that the mail carrier remembers seeing the little girl and thought she disappeared b/c of divorce or something. If these 2 idiot people let Sunny go to the door when the mail carrier was around, didn't they stop and think that others...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

I guess I just assumed that when someone has a baby the family goes there, but I can see how it would be different (like in your case). BTW, the actual drive time house to house would only be about 15 minutes, making me think someone would pop in. Still can't imagine this nimwit got pregnant...

GUILTY VA - Shannon Gore charged in death of infant, child abuse, Hayes, 2011

For what it's worth, I cannot imagine Brian's parents really had no idea what was going on. The father (John Wayne Gore) lived around the corner. Here's a google map link that shows the location of the two houses (I hope this works)...
