GUILTY Turkey - Sarai Sierra, 33, NY woman murdered, Istanbul, 21 Jan 2013 - #6

How many people here think that Ziya T. did this and in the way that he says he did. It looks staged, even as if Ziya T. was told what to say, I think. The Istanbul Police Chief Kaplan speaks as if this case is closed. There hasn't even been a trial yet. Does anyone else think this is highly...

If Turkish officials had released a photo or footage of Ziya in the first place, then he wouldn't have been able to go to the Syrian border, someone would rat him out. For some reason, I think law enforcement didn't want the public to know they were looking for him. Maybe they were afraid...

If he really only had 6 months to live, then he wouldn't be too worried about the light murder sentences in Turkey. He might even get medical leave like the U.S. Embassy bomber...

What makes you believe Ziya is a high school graduate? His brother said he didn't even complete a year of school. And his brother doesn't seem well educated either.

It makes no sense, unless Ziya is not actually a regular homeless guy. I think the lack of officials speaking is weird. None of these reports include quotes from local or federal LE. I assume the investigation is looking at much more than just a homeless guy.

Why would Instagram contacts/"friends" be by her side the entire time? That makes no sense to me. They're just photo buddies, as far as we know. Sure, meet, but take care of? Why? My question is - who are her brother's purported friends in Turkey that some have said have links to her church...

Why would he need to use an alias to purchase a bus ticket with cash? This doesn't make sense, unless they take people's name and information to buy a bus ticket in Turkey?

When will the misinformation end? I don't know if the Turkish officials don't know the facts, or they are trying to confuse the public - Turks here - which one do you think?

I don't know much about DNA testing, but if they just took the brother's DNA how would they have been able to match it in a day or two? Does anyone know? This report doesn't make sense to me - don't think it's possible.

Wow. Steven must be a saint! He's even patient with the press! I don't think I'd be able to handle it, if I were he. He just sounds so sweet...this is uplifting to see such a kind man dealing with this tragedy with such grace.

No, what I am saying is maybe they thought she just wanted to go "offline" (from them) and be out of touch. Maybe that's what this trip was about, and they knew it. Can we talk about the one online "friend" that tried to contact her on Gmail after she went missing. Camsab was the name (not...

Isn't this bizarre, though? Wouldn't you at least check with the owner of the flat to make sure she's ok, if you haven't heard from her in days?

She would have gone to a Turkish phone store immediately, and found out that charges in Turkey are CHEAP. Cheaper there than in the U.S.. I had to buy one when I went (because I forgot mine). Want to mail something to Turkey via mail? For a 1 lb. package from New York to Turkey is $50. Makes no...

Why would she need a Turkish phone if she had a prepaid card in her Galaxy phone? I guess to make it cheaper for locals to contact her? That means she would have been in touch with them a lot...otherwise, why not email. If they are on Instagram, they can see email on their phones.

It doesn't make sense, because you can easily and cheaply get a new license in the U.S., if it's lost or stolen. A passport? I understand, but she knew it was back in her room. The killer wanted her to be i.d.ed, hence leaving it there. I think there's remorse for the crime - last respect...

Doesn't make sense that the murderer just grabbed her bag, not knowing its contents. Her driver's license was found near the body. She would have likely kept it in her purse. I think they looked in her bag before leaving to get it, because they felt remorse or something, and thought she might...

There's a blackout from the police? I wonder if that's good or bad. Who's saying this?

She was Pentecostal. I would assume just as likely to wear a cross.

Is it possible she had more than 1 bag? Maybe another, smaller purse? Otherwise, the media reports are false that her bag is missing. I didn't get why no one ever discussed luggage back at her place.
