No, it really wouldn't - this isn't down to " a good enough signal" it's down to the laws of physics. An electromagnetic signal cannot pass through metal if it is earthed, it's like saying if you had your micorwave on a high enough setting maybe it would cook you, in the kitchen. Inconclusive...

Assume he couldn't leave the HS on foot, and the bin weight was correct, his phone was tracked following the route of the bin truck, but in a metal container wouldn't be able to transmit out. What possibilities does that leave? We know he isn't still in the HS, we know his phone followed the...

This is one I've always been interested in because it's local to me, but come on - a body in a canal for 5 months, no sexual assault - and they're trying to use "DNA evidence" for a breakthrough. It's poppycock. LCN DNA is fantasy, not science, and in a canal it's going to be contaminated to...

Personally my search would be all over the driver of the bin truck - he is probably totally innocent and all that - but you've got to start somewehre, and starting with the obvious seems.... well obvious really.

By Earthspirit on previous thread: "i wish people would stop treating the police as idiots. also the military have done their own checking apparently and they also say there is no way out on foot - oh of course there would be the quick turn of the cctv when somoene else was passing and it...

It appears that what the Police have said is that "there is not 100% coverage of the area" - what that means is not clear - just the coverage of the "horseshoe" (in which case we'd know what happened), or the area in general. However, as pointed out, the Police have extended out their CCTV...

I don't care what N says, the POLICE who have looked at the footage have said it isn't possible. It doesn't take rocket science to look at CCTV and determine if you can or can't leave on foot. Maybe if one of the cameras was turned to 270 degrees in X axis and the other was at 380 degrees in Y...

God... So what's the suggestion? The guy on the bike abducted Corrie over the handlebars but no one saw anything on CCTV or otherwise, he then pedalled as fast as a vehicle towards Barton Mills - with Corrie on the bike - before disposing of him and/or his phone without anyone noticing? HE...

It's the first idea I had - they (Biffa) charge you for what they pick up, and are charged for what they drop off at the dump. If it could be altered then they'd be putting their entire income in the trust that their drivers recorded the right numbers - rightly or wrongly deliberatley or...

I rang them a week or so ago 10pm - no answer - no call back - so maybe sometimes they answer and sometimes they don't - if you rang today now would they answer? Eve if they did - there shouldn't be any gaps in coverage,.

It's not manual filling in of paperwork, they use load cells - electronic weghing scales - weigh when they lift it up (before dropping load in bin truck) and after - one minus other = weight of waste. Can't be fiddled. Therefore he must have been in cab.

Why would she do that? If you ring the phone lines they are manned (allegedly) by family and friends because the Police haven't the resources. Worse than that (I know because I tried) if you ring them outside office hours no-one answers. Suppose you knew something and had a pang of...

    1) Pertinent question, answer unknown but it has been suggested longer than usual. 2) It's electronic, it weighs the bin on way up and down, subtracts one from other = deposited weight (they charge on weight disposed, not manipulable). 3) Don't know.

Correction - if I may... He was not in the refuse area of the truck - since the scales show a difference in weight, plus it would probably act like a faraday cage and the phone wouldn't be able to ping the masts. He was not on the outside of the truck since he wasn't on CCTV and didn't fall...

Can I just throw in here, since people seem to be mentioning it a lot, that forensic testing, specifically DNA testing as a part of an active line of enquiry ought to be consigned to the rubbish bin of history. If you're using it as the icing on the cake of a well worked investigation then...

First of all there is no car on CCTV that hasn't been discounted - so how did this invisible intruder pick him up? Secondly, if you arrange to meet someone for an important rendezvous you don't get blind drunk then fall asleep in a shop doorway for 2 hours. Clearly nothing was planned at all...

But if he was picked up why wouldn't that person come forward, for the phone to be "lost in the car" the driver must have known he was there - so not finding the phone doesn't explain not coming forward, and if they went to Tesco they'd be on cctv - stores have extensive coverage, and to arrange...

Didn't have food wrappers when into horseshoe? Who goes into an industrial waste area to throw away a burger wrapper or 2? Etc. If he was arranging to meet someone (previous point from someone else), it wasn't on his phone, if you met someone in a pub you'd usually go with them right away...

Why? They seem pretty good to me. If I produced a TV detective show and that was the solution you'd like it.
