If what was reported to the police wasn't remarkable, the caller would have been told to wait until monday morning, then call back if the person still hadn't turned up. The police get thousands of these calls every year. Their standard assumption where an adult goes missing is to assume...
I posted on this before, but it seems a long time ago, so here goes. What strikes me about the events of 20/12 is not so much the parents' statement, but the immediate police response. A missing 25 year old is going to be pretty low down the list of priorities at midnight on a sunday night, yet...
It seems that Greg had Jo's phone from whenever he found it (in her bag?) on the night of the 20th, probably until the body was found, since when Jo's friend called Jo's phone on the 21st, Greg answered the call.
So I would imagine that Greg read all her texts, in and out- that's just human...
Shouldn't that be "got a missed call early monday morning"? Did she try to phone Jo on Jo's mobile? and Greg picked it up? Surely Jo's mobile would have been with the police? Or did she phone a landline number at the flat?
All the points you make are perfectly valid, and yes, he would need to be very lucky.
On your last point, though, quoted above: jealousy is, in my opinion, the most destructive emotion and the strongest motive anyone can possibly have- it eats away inside a person like a cancer, and if he...
Phillb established conclusively yesterday that the body was dumped next to the big boulder on the right hand (as you enter) side of the quarry entrance. The only doubt was which side of the wire fence, though I think the consensus was that it was just left on the verge beside the boulder. The...
I will go through your points:
1. I don't think it was premeditated, he just happened to leave his phone in his own car- which isn't very unlikely, I've often left my phone in the car after a long journey.
2. 360 miles round trip by motorway- most modern vehicles will manage that on a full...
This is incredible, if true. The mobile phone location data was always going to be key to this case, so why is it only being checked now? What has been going on for the last 3 weeks?
Yes, I'm absolutely convinced that you have pinpointed the right spot, I was just concerned whether the man in charge of the investigation was fully up to speed.
I'm truly hoping it's simply a case of poor journalism, rather than a symptom of a badly briefed DCI! Jones should have complete command of all the detail of this case by now, surely
More from the same article:
"Det Chief Inspector Phil Jones, who is leading the murder hunt, has said it is possible the killer may have tried to lift her over the quarry wall, but failed in his attempt and instead left her on the narrow roadside verge."
After all our discussions yesterday...
I will resurrect my initial thoughts on this case:
Greg left for Sheffield around 7pm in a car with a suspect battery. He may have had some bad news from Jo at their lunchtime meet, and stews on this all the way to Sheffield. He gets to Sheffield around 10pm, but decides he must go back and...
I haven't seen any info on this car either, which is strange. I would doubt if it was used to commute to work, though. Easier to walk in Bristol, for 2 athletic young people. Traffic and parking in that city is a nightmare, in my experience.
The quarry entrance is the only place along that stretch of narrow lane where you could park without blocking the lane, so it's the obvious place to stop and dump a body, especially if you don't have much local knowledge, and you are in a hurry.
It seems clear that the detective was under the impression that the dumping spot was where the floral tributes were left, 50 yards south of the quarry entrance, which I think we have agreed is the correct dumping spot. His conclusions would have been more persuasive if he had looked at the right...
From the Telegraph, 28/12
It is not know whether her body had been lying in the spot where she was found or if it had been dumped more recently. Even though the area is remote locals say her body would have been noticed on Christmas Eve if it had been there.
I'm sure I've seen similar...
The sign at the entrance is different from the one on Streetview, so things might have changed in other ways- and anyway, wouldn't the boulder have been behind the vehicle, and not visible anyway?
Here is something I found interesting from a poster on the Daily Mail website today:
"I worked for the One2One mobile phone network 10 years ago. Each call / text could be analysed to see which cells the phone was connected to, and the signal strength received from each cell. This information...
Thanks to Otto and Phillb, we now have a good view of the real dumping spot. What is now really clear is that there was never any intention of doing anything other than rapidly dump the body on the roadside. There is no way anyone was getting an adult body over that fencing, I doubt if 2 men...
