MN - George Floyd, unarmed man killed in police custody, Minneapolis, 25 May 2020

I could be. Given it's a woman, we have to wait and see. Most women are killed by people close to them. I can definitely see someone using the cover the riot to murder an "inconvenient woman." It's like falling dominoes - a sequence of deadly events were set in motion by someone passing a $20...

Yes, there are all sorts of threats on social media against cops. Many are not verified and they are retweeted by bots. Not every forum is moderated.

I don't know. Because that football player was peacefully protesting, got hounded and nothing happened.

I am not so sanguine. The authorities only need probable cause to arrest someone. And, it is not their job to find exculpatory evidence, that is the job of the defense. I think the DA made a very reckless statement that poured fire on an explosive situation. So, I have no idea what will happen.

Because most white Americans don't see it that way. They see the immediate effects of it in the present. It's an old but effective playbook, protests lead to riots lead to looting. After that line has been crossed, most Americans become very law and order. The looting is so self-destructive.

    Coronavirus COVID-19 - Global Health Pandemic #53

I don't know. There is a shortage of pharmaceutical-grade glass* to hold the vaccines. So that bottleneck needs to be overcome. *Didn't know such a thing existed until recently.

    Coronavirus COVID-19 - Global Health Pandemic #53

This reminds me of the Roman Catholic Church's dispensations during the black plague. A bishop in England gave permission to laymen to make confession to each other as was done by the Apostles, “or if no man is present then even to a woman,” and if no priest could be found to administer...

The egrets started doing that a few years ago, here. Now, they are completely emboldened, crossing the streets at leisure and hovering like vultures over restaurant trash cans. Oh...and they are getting fat.

It's sad when even Saudi Arabia closed down Mecca in February, yet we have some churches who don't. However, this is something you can't enforce effectively in a free society.

Excess mortality means deaths above average during an epidemic, not attributed to the illness (Covid-19) itself. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2020/05/02/excess-deaths-during-covid-19/?arc404=true Cool chart

He speaks the truth. I have been hearing horrible stuff coming out of Latin America. And, there is no systemic collection of data in these countries; they only notice when it gets horrible when the privileged are inconvenienced b/c the dead are everywhere. (Sad but true). Trigger warning: Some...

I can see this so helpful in nursing homes. Both in keeping asymptomatic untested visitors out and in helping the staff know when they are infected or in danger. It would help the elderly get help earlier when it's less expensive.
