Yeah, he knew what was going on. He knew Melinda was dead or dying so he brought his wife to take the baby. Whether or not he knew in advance what SL's plans were, who knows? I tend to think yes, but there's no proof of that.

I tend to think it was more about the money, simply because Melinda had a policy on her life at all. He married her and immediately started badgering her to buy life insurance. She was 22. Who does that? Nobody. i think he knew he was going to kill her when she made the call they played in court.

I have always hoped and prayed that she was unconscious from the moment the bullet hit her. Her body may have still been working but hopefully her brain was shut down. I don't know anything about those kinds of wounds. It's just a hope I have. So sad.

Did the gun jam? I thought that was shown to be not true. I could be wrong.

In his mind he didn't have money problems. He had a million dollar payday to look forward to. I think he got the card and booked the cruise because he thought he deserved a vacation - and he didn't have to worry about how to pay for it. I was wondering more what his original plan was for that...

That could very well be, but I tend to think the fact that the insurance policy was about to expire had more to do with the timing than anything else. It was now or never for him. I wonder what his original plan was.

I remember her post in reaction to his marriage proposal. "I will be a Lindsey". "We will be a real family". I think it stuck out for me because it was the one and only hopeful post in the whole thing. I remember what she wrote about being a homemaker also, how it was the hardest job she ever...

I tend to go with also abused, and worried for the SIL. The words "This is what happens when you piss off a Lindsey" keep running through my head. Dunno, maybe she's a wacko to whom a cut of a million dollar insurance policy sounded good. But I tend to suspect she's scared for her own...

Steven could have had a decent life. He had a good-paying job as a lineman for the power company, a wife and a son. But he drank on the job and he cheated on the wife. That led to something he never counted on - consequences. Child support payments. A new young family to support. Unemployment...

I want life with no parole. I don't want him to have even a sliver of hope that he might ever see the light of day again. 45 would be fine if he actually did 45.

I am too. That - or plain old life with no parole. i will be surprised if he gets the minimum considering the heinousness of the crime. This was no crime of passion. He planned it and set it up for months. I hope the judge takes that into consideration.

I was reading one of the updates that showed that photo at work. A colleague took one glance at it and said "that man looks like the devil". I said "He is."

Well even if he gets the minimum he will die in jail. Do they even release 80-year-old prisoners after 45 years behind bars? I wish i could have been there when the verdict was read. I would have loved to have seen his face when he realized he didn't get away with it.

I hope it is kept in mind that this was no crime of passion. It was premeditated murder for financial gain. I wonder if he could get the death penalty? To be sentenced to death, the prosecutor has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that at least one of the following aggravating circumstances...

Looks like his family, or whoever is covering the bills, is not done paying. He's going to appeal. Well, why not, it's not like the bill will come to him...

Yep, he let them pay for his crime and now he will expect them to support him in prison.

I have wondered about this also. I wouldn't lose any sleep if the brother and SIL lost their home and/or financial security over this. It would be a shame if his parents or other relatives who had nothing to do with it had to pay for it though.

How could this be? Well, dear, we know you are used to having everyone around you believe your lies. But the jury wasn't made up of young girls who had no experience with narcissism or emotional abuse. That's how it could be.
