GUILTY IN - Melinda Lindsey, 23, shot to death, Porter County, 16 Jan 2015 - #2

According to him he was choked unconscious on the couch and came to in the baby's room when he heard the gunshot, isn't that right? So he was unconscious the whole time he was being dragged from room to room.

This defense attorney stands to walk away with a cut of a million dollar life insurance policy if he gets Lindsey off. I think we can expect him to use every trick in the book to try to create reasonable doubt, including blaming the victim.

This person from Melindas past has an alibi that passed muster initially. If he has witnesses placing him where he says he was chances are nothing will come of this accusation.

How will they explain why there were no marks found on a guy who claimed to be choked unconscious, dragged from room to room and bound with zip ties? I would love to hear that one.

Well she'll probably have to testify, unless the cops believe her story, let Steve go, and arrest the other guy, which I strongly suspect won't happen.

I wonder how much she got paid to try to create reasonable doubt by accusing this guy. I also wonder if she's smart enough to get out of town before he DOES kill her. OK, maybe everybody has been barking up the wrong tree and SL is a poor innocent victim in all this. And maybe I'm the Tooth fairy.

I think the only reason the baby is alive today is because the gun jammed. If it had not he would have killed them both and been far away when the bodies were discovered. Just my opinion, of course.

Interesting. I had wondered if we would find out the policy was about to expire. Yep. It was. She was shot after he stopped paying the premium, but before the policy expired. So glad the judge allowed it in.

I would too. In fact I would not be surprised if this case was eventually settled. Lindsey will not set foot outside prison walls for a long, long time. At this point it's just a matter of how long.

I suspect the next time this case appears in the news it will be when the verdict is read, and then when he is sentenced. If that. Hopefully her friends and family will update the Justice for Melinda page on Facebook or this thread if anything significant happens. I wish I could attend that...

It's hard for me to say, because I live in a big city where a case like this would be a blip on the radar. Maybe in a smaller town it will get more play, I have no idea. But we live in a country where 3 women a day are killed by domestic violence. How many are on the news for more than one...

Probably there is nothing to report. An arrest has been made and the suspect is in jail awaiting trial. I wouldn't be surprised if there was nothing more in the media until a verdict is reached.

I think witnesses can remain in the courtroom after they are finished testifying.

I think this is the case. I don't know how far from Melinda's his brother lived, but I would bet his plan was to use his brother and sister-in-law as alibis, and I don't mean asking them to lie. What makes sense to me based on all we know is that his plan was to stay at his brother's that night...

I doubt if the day to day testimony will be reported on. We might not hear anything until the verdict is reached, or there's a plea deal.

Maybe there is nothing to say. From the POV of the police, the case is solved. The perp is in jail awaiting trial.

I can see him wanting to make it look like the stalker would assume Melinda was unprotected. But ... according to his story the stalker came in EVEN THOUGH Steve's car was there. Anybody watching would have known what Steve drove and what Melinda drove. So this fearless stalker walked in the...

This has actually crossed my mind also - that Melinda got up as usual and then got back into bed because Steve wanted sex. Then once she was dozing he slipped out of bed and shot her. If that is what happened it would show up in the autopsy report that she recently had sex.

He knew. SHSF heard Melinda ask Steve if she could go eat with her friends. His response was "you know the deal" so SHSF asked Melinda what that meant. It meant she had to carry a tracking device and check in every 20 minutes. But he did give her permission (God just typing that word -...
