I wish the Marvelous 13 all the success in the world. And that the John Denver estate sent them their catalogue is so sweet. John Denver's songs were mostly about the outdoors and wilderness, things that the siblings were never able to experience being imprisoned as they were. No wonder they are...

I'm wishing the siblings all the best in their new lives! Lots of ice cream, puppy kisses, Star Wars movies, and all their hearts desire! And here's to college, careers, and relationships in their futures. California has so much good Mexican food (after all we were once a part of Mexico) that...

As long as the kids are allowed to see and talk to each other often, so they can still bond, splitting them up is probably the best of a set of bad options. Very few people are beating down the doors to foster/adopt six special-needs children all at once. And the "mega-families" that do adopt...

This is what worries me - if the county or state wants to stop paying for these kids and adults, and it's "any port in a storm" for fostering or adopting, that family will be allowed to step up without regard for how suitable they are. I have heard - and I think it depends on the jurisdiction...

NO. I hope they are not going to consider this because "faaaaaamily" or because kinship care is cheaper. No-one in the family should be able to adopt or foster the kids or adults, and definitely not get their hands on any money.

(Bolding is by me) You are a hero too, CaMomx4 - for escaping, and for making the decision to break the cycle of abuse with your children. Your kids will know a happy, normal childhood thanks to you. I bolded part of your post because that is something that can't be emphasized enough...

Such a nice Christian family... (eyeroll) I wonder if one of the reasons they secluded and tortured their children was so none could or would talk to outsiders about stuff that would crack the "loving, wholesome, Disney-going religious family" facade. You do you, consenting adults, etc. but...

(Snipped by me) I'm glad you brought this up! For a college graduate in his 20's to want to date, let alone marry, a HIGH SCHOOL girl of 16 is gross, creepy, and NOT NORMAL. I want to shout that from the rooftops. When I was in high school I had a friend of 16 who was dating some guy in his...

Those plaid dresses do look like a Butterick pattern type of flower girl or jr. bridesmaid dress from the 70's! I am sure they were sewn at home, whether by egg donor or someone else. It also speaks to the stunted growth of the grown daughters that those T-strap Mary Jane style shoes fit them...

Exactly! You'd think the relatives would smell a rat when the older kids did not go to college, get jobs, get married, or in general do the milestones that most young adults do. And even if the family had been told that the older ones had disabilities - as I've pointed out, there is now a...

I do wonder about that. It's possible that no-one called CPS, and it's also possible that CPS was called but her case was triaged out. If CPS was overwhelmed, they might have thought "she's only thin, dirty and smelly, but no broken bones, she has clothes, there are so many other more urgent...

I know an adult woman who is a huuuuge Disney fan. And she's a kind, sweet person, with a normal job, happy marriage, raised three great kids - all of whom are college graduates, and attends a mainstream church. Some people just love Disney and are normal. It takes all kinds, etc. With this...

I also was wondering what was up with the grandparents seeing the family and thinking that all was well. I know they are older, and come from a background where maybe it was less common for kids to go right to college, and girls live at home until they are married - but wouldn't they wonder...

I dug and found the journal article referenced in the PT article, too (needless to say, trigger warnings! There are also pictures, graphic): http://alaska.nationalchildrensalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Knox-Torture-as-a-Form-of-Child-Abuse-article.pdf Child torture is "caretaker...

Abusers often use pets to control their victims (tw: animal abuse, domestic abuse) https://www.vice.com/en_nz/article/vdq3bj/pets-domestic-violence-trapped-shelters Even if the dogs that were rescued were well-fed and healthy, I wouldn't put it past the monster parents to have used pets to...

I only post occasionally and haven't at all for a while, but this situation brought me out of lurkerdom. Those poor, poor kids. My heart just breaks for them, especially the older ones. "Not allowed to wash" hit me hardest; I know how gross I feel if I skip a shower for just one day! :o And the...

LEK's feet are visible beneath the table, in one pic of her with the women's business owner's association. Her feet are noticeably large. I would say she wore at least a US size 10. And the marriage counselor/psychologist who counseled her after her separation noted that LEK had "the longest...

I have known, or known of, some quite plain women who were strippers. Not in a high-class strip joint, and not in places like L.A, but it's amazing what magic can be wrought with makeup, wigs and costumes. I had a friend who was always giving houseroom to various down-on-their-luck strippers and...

    Lori's Occupations

Just looking at the Women in Business pictures of LEK, I think she has to have been at least 5'10, maybe even 5'11 as her passport said. Note that in the one picture - standing next to the African-American guy - she is as tall as he is and taller than all the other women. Then in the pic with...
