I'm very sorry for your loss. One of the passengers was a friend of my uncle's from medical school. :(
As I recall that recovery was hampered by heavy ice.
That's a big tent though... It looks bigger than the forensic tents that are usually seen at crime scenes. I wonder if its a party tent put up as a place for searchers to warm up and get meals/snacks.
Is it possible that the accident reconstruction team isn't attending in that specialized capacity, but just as regular officers helping in the search? A reporter might have simply read the markings on the car that they arrived in and mistakenly reported it. The police would need to have an...
It might not have taken the dad long to load the truck, and Chase could have come out towards the end. I wear different footwear and maybe lighter clothes if I'm going just to the car and staying on the dry driveway than I would if I was going to be in deeper snow or muddier conditions. It's a...
A little more info:
- Foul play not ruled out, but it's not the focus of their investigation;
- Focus is on locating Chase;
- Family is distraught;
- Believes they have sufficient volunteers, will be providing updated info on this as they move forward;
- Amber alert has not been considered;
-...
Updates for those who couldn't watch:
- overnight search continued w/ trained searchers, looked in high probability areas;
- today search expands from 1.5 km to about 3.5 km radius, including water, river, creeks, ponds that will be searched;
- underwater recovery team from RCMP will be deployed...
I wouldn't read too much into it.
They provided a couple of updates yesterday as well, including one at 11:30 am. It's a good time because it allows time for police to give volunteers instructions to start with the search for the day and time for the big news orgs to get in from the city...
I haven't had time to see the interview yet, but could it be a way of encouraging others to come forward without coming out and saying it? Like an "I thought he was innocent but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong now that I know what I know"? Maybe it will encourage others who saw something suspicious...
Not necessarily. It could be circumstantial evidence that, while not sufficient to prove anything, could add to the cumulative impact of other evidence.
We just put post-it notes over the information to be redacted then run the document through the photocopier (if we don't just put black bars over the redacted portions of a computer document). I was really surprised to see this document had somewhat readable information on it.
It could be that the police specifically asked about certain items - I could see them asking anybody filing such a report whether they owned any firearms and to look and see if they were missing. Since the MPR is the first thing they do, it could be that the police record every missing item...
