Interesting how that photo shows up here. And other places.

I did a search for a Jalate sweater and found a result on eBay that looks like the sweater (hope this is okay to link):

For comparison...
I wouldn't make that assumption. Plenty of women in their 20s and older shop there for cheap, fun clothes or going-out clothes that won't break the bank. I occasionally shop there, and I'm in my 40s. I always see women in their 20s in there, if not ones that are older.
Count me in, too. I also got the impression that she was dressed better, too. While the description says a "black top," that looks more like a fading t-shirt. She looks more like she's going out to pull weeds from the garden than go shopping at Nordstrom.
There are 5 sizes of trash cans the city offers, and at least one of them (the one we have, sigh) doesn't lock or have handles. Our lid just pops on top and can be opened with one hand, which means it's easy-peasy to use as a dog poo bag disposal site for the entire neighborhood. :maddening:
In Seattle, we have three bins: trash, recycling, and compost/yard waste bins. The recycling is picked up every other week, while the other two are picked up every week. The grass would be composted.
I'm in Seattle with a regular single-family municipal recycling pickup and we don't use clear bags (or even heard of this practice) for recycling. I've only been here 2.5 years, so is this an older practice that is left over? Or maybe not a municipal pickup thing? Or multifamily recycling...
Looks like the UID has a prominent mole on her cheek (near her eye), which I'm not seeing on Juanita. I'm not sure if the other marks on her are a result of death or what, but if not, I'd say she had freckling, too.
Is it just me or is the PM photo on this doe one of the largest in size ever...
I wonder how many people who have committed suicide are just not diagnosed with mental illness. Mental illness has a stigma, and some choose to self-medicate through drugs or alcohol, others maintain control via an eating disorder; some just trudge through life just keeping it together until...
I'm not necessarily seeing anything weird. The fact that they were both in the PNW with bags from Nordstrom isn't odd at all, given that there were two major department stores in the region: Nordstrom and Bon Marché (now Macy's). Also, the Portland Inn was a Day's Inn (and looks every bit of...
On page 20 of the .pdf in the response documents (page 2 of Velling's report), it says the police believed she was going to kill her in-laws, but when she saw they weren't home, she decided to kill herself. Is this new information? I don't remember this being mentioned before. I wonder why they...
At least two of the reconstructions appear to indicate she has a widow's peak. It's hard to tell if Charlene has one in her photos. Wish there was a check box for things like that on NamUs. Most people wouldn't think to include it, but if there was a prompt for it, it could at least be another...
Given it is a quote from an officer (as opposed to a family member/friend), I took it to mean that this type of thing has happened in similar cases before, but not necessarily to Katelin herself. It's very easy to apply various contexts to that quote.
Well, the article gives more insight into the tomb. It wasn't a concrete block, after all. It was a hand-built block of bricks covered with concrete, which would have been less conspicuous to build, I imagine.
Thanks for posting this!
I saw the child's birthdate and thought, "hey, that might narrow it down a bit!" Then I did some research and found out that 10-15 thousand babies are born every day in the US.
Dang. I had no idea.
