CO - Dylan Redwine - Forensics Discussion- *WARNING!* MAY INCLUDE GRAPHIC DETAILS

http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KDRO/2012/11/18/MonthlyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA This is for Durango, won't go to Bayfield. Not sure I can get closer. If you look at the calendar at bottom, most of the month it was a good 8 to 10 degrees above normal...

Yes, it was a warm and dry fall. To another post, yes, most campgrounds do close by Labor Day. That doesn't mean people don't camp outside of official campgrounds, they do that all year long anyway. But services (pump, trash, toilets) would not be maintained, and the actual campgrounds would...

I don't know about coyote scat, but I can tell you what dog poop does after being under snow for months. Snow melts from the ground up, so it doesn't just sit there and stay frozen, because there would be melt-freeze cycles going on all the time and snowmelt/water soaking the scat. Old dog poop...

Dylan Redwine Case Discussion Thread/Dylan's Remains Found

I realize this, which is why I used words like "not necessarily" and "likely" etc. It is not definite that remains could have been carried into the lake, just because they were in a drainage. That was my only point.

Not necessarily ... CO has a lot of dry drainages -- most of them, these days, really. If you look at the precipitation in the months before November (thanks to the link provided earlier), you can see that there was less than 0.2 in. during the summer and fall. That is post 2012 runoff, so the...

I wish I knew how to work that weather chart, it's good info. BUt it was quite dry until mid-December, as I remember. You can check the precip category for Bayfield and extrapolate, only 0.6 in. in the month of November, so even if the mtn road was higher, there just wasn't much of anything...

I don't think so ... it was a warm fall and a late start to winter there. The forest service usually bases road closures more on conditions than on specific dates. So it was most likely accessible farther into December than usual.

Could be, but it still isn't verified that his phone wasn't somehow broken, is it? I mean, he could have gotten up to go to the bathroom and dropped his phone in the toilet. It has happened around my house more than once, lol. Yes, there was a landline, but who knows anyone's phone numbers...

If, indeed, Dylan was irritated at being stuck at his dad's and plotting to go visit a friend and not return, he would take everything. This would fall under the "picked-up-by-bad-guy-while-hitchhiking" scenario.

Most likely, but it depends. Other traffic would probably have destroyed tracks before the weather did, though, assuming this vehicle was not the last vehicle to drive that road before it was closed.

Have they stopped searching? (I apologize, I've not paid much attention lately and am trying to catch up.) It's possible that LE does have the skull and just hasn't told anyone, isn't it? I assume the skull would be likely to have some evidence of manner of death, so it seems like they might...

Ok thanks. Probably skate shoes of some sort.

Wow, yeah, those are larger bones; I know what my dog does to smaller bones. Might not find much else.

Are there any photos of Dylan wearing these shoes? I can go back and look. I was just wondering if he wore his high tops all openend up and very loosely laced, like many boys do. The laces are intriguing, but I sure wish I knew what was discovered. An inch-long shred of lace, or the entire...

I don't know, but that would make a lot of sense. They are huge scavengers.

I don't mean local as in living in Vallecito. I mean local as in someone who spends time in that area. I know a lot of trails and roads in the mountains where I spend time, but I don't live there. If that makes sense. I do think it is highly likely that whoever left the body there had been...

Wouldn't have been bears, probably, fwiw. THey were hibernating most of the time he was allegedly there. graphic ahead: if the body was scavenged by mountain lions, which do not hibernate and do live in this area, it's possible the body was not found in the location where it was dumped. Or...

Maybe, maybe not. He/she could be local, too, you know. Nothing makes much sense right now.

What you need to consider, though, is the quote of Mark's that is used doesn't say anything about "the woods where his body was found." That is what the reporter wrote, and it could be accurate or not. MR might have meant that Dylan was outside wandering around near the house and was abducted...
