I have not been here in a while but I came back to clarifiy a couple of things. Trains do in fact run through Ozark. There is a train track that runs not far from where the car was found. Like someone said, they are freight trains, but, people do hitch rides on them.
As far as the suicide...
Actually, up until about 1996ish Carroll and Northview did play. Dothan may be bigger than Ozark but Dothan also has 2 high schools. Where as all of Ozark goes to Carroll.
Brown's crossroads is out that way. I know we mainly used it to go make out. There were still parties out there at times. But, mostly it was a make out spot. Or to watch the infamous "Trees bleed". Which was just a weird way the moon would reflect off the trees. But it was a drawn for...
If my memory serves me correctly, I don't think there was anything there until the Kangaroo station. But, it's been 15 years... It's hard to remember since the Kangaroo has been there so long.
By the time I was in high school I was at Dale County. We hung out in Winn Dixie shopping center...
I have always wondered that as well. Especially if they were heading to Haleburg and turned back around. 431 is difficult to miss, even at night. That intersection is very well lit.

Respectfully snipped
I know that the families at one time hired a PI, I don't know if he is still on the case.
According to news reports, the white truck was found and eliminated as a suspect.
The license on the dash is why the rumor of cop cover up has run rampant down here.

Here's the links to the Dothan CrimeStoppers:

WTVY Contact Us Page: WTVY I am not sure who to contact with them
They usually do something closer to the anniversary. I haven't seen anything yet though. And, the Chief of Police in Ozark I'd still the same. As far as the other officers/detectives, I'm not sure.

Dime Detective, thank you for the warm welcome. All I want is to get justice for these two sweet girls.
Words cannot express the appreciation we as a community have for people taking an interest in this horrible tragedy. I just hope what I know of the area will be of some help, even if it...
Not that I can recall. But, they kept a lot of that very hush hush. It wasn't until they had all but arrested Barrentine that anyone really knew about him. You have to understand, this was one of the biggest crimes to ever happen around here. Sure we would have murders, but, mostly it was...
True, they could have went out with the purpose of trying to beg Tracie's parents to let them stay out longer. Or with hopes that Tracie's mom would be in bed and not notice that she missed curfew. That particular bit of the timeline might speak volumes as to their state of mind for lack of a...
One thing that has always bugged me. They left Dothan at just after 10pm. According to Google Maps, if they went via 431, it would have taken them almost 45 minutes to get out there. Tracie's curfew was 11:30. Basically they would be driving out there and turn around and driving straight...
Thank you! I am glad that I am here. I have read this whole thread. Took me almost 5 days to do it! This case has puzzled me for years.
I take very little stock in the Haunted Evidence episode. I was just stating that everything says that the party was in Haleburg, and the area on the...
I am sure there were, but, I never really noticed them. The running joke at my school was if you got caught by the train or the tractor it was a viable excuse for being late. With the area where we live you have a lot of TDY type people. We have an aircraft maintenance company not far from...
I would also like to thank everyone, especially Dime Detective for the easy to read forum and information. Y'all have put a lot of work into this case. I commend you all!
