I just had some thoughts. I've been having a hard time falling asleep, so have gone back reading, etc.
On the subject of guns, it's entirely possible to own/possess a restricted firearm, and I'm sure many Albertans do. There are numerous gun enthusiast clubs and trade shows that promote the...
To add to this, IIRC, LE originally stated it would take a while to process evidence but were expediting the process. IMO, this would mean they were processing DNA, and if they had DNA of all three confirmed, it would make sense that they feel confident in their theory that all three were indeed...
I agree. And, the other thought I had was the mountains. Canmore is accessible without a park pass, and there are plenty of hiking trails in and around the area.
It's MOO, too, that anything is possible, and it could be that DG had left school early for a Halloween party and witnessed the accident...? Is it possible he was on a U of A team that had a tournament in Lethbridge? I've been checking archives, names of professors in the Medicine Faculty, etc...
Found this:
"Douglas Garland was living in B.C.’s Lower Mainland and working as a chemical mixer at the B.C. Institute of Technology.
He had managed to evade detection by stealing Matthew’s identity.
The teen was at the wheel of a car near his family’s ranch in Cardston...
I was trying so hard to get through all the pages of that newspaper archive (thinking there *might* be an article about the crash), but I didn't see anything, and it only allows a certain amount of PDF views per day. Most of the paper was related to Alberta's 75th year and a bunch of memory-lane...
It may not be of much use, but I found the obituaries for MKH and his sister. (Hope I've done this right)

I've been travelling and so I've just gotten myself caught up. I am so terribly sad for the O'Briens and Likneses. I hope DG has one shred of humanity left in his soul to help LE recover the remains. Sweet little NO deserves that much as he was innocent in this crime against his grandparents...
If the place was ransacked, it would give me the impression that the perp may have been looking for something, perhaps something that had value to them (like a document), OR they were trying to cover up the fact that they were known to the L's and wanted it to look like a botched burglary. I...
I agree with this. However, I also think that if a heated exchange took place and someone was hurt (for example, trying to forcefully remove him from their home and a fight ensuing), it's not so out of the ordinary that adrenaline and/or panic could have taken over. He has no history of violent...
It's JMO, but I think she meant it in the context of whatever happened not being about her son and him just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It's possible the family suspected what had happened from the beginning, regarding AL and his dealings/past with DG, etc.
If this was the case, and he was waiting for JO's vehicle to leave, it's possible he didn't see her leave alone or wasn't aware little NO was left at the L home for the night. Everything about this makes me so sick :(
I agree it is odd. BUT, DG's sister is connected. It could have been along the lines of "my brother wants a second chance, can you help him?" If he had been on his "best behaviour" and AL was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, seeing potential--whatever--then maybe it isn't so...
Not only that, but I can imagine although people are trying to be comforting, seeing message upon message, comment after comment, and probably a barrage of friend requests would be extremely overwhelming. That's JMO.
I think maybe they are just limiting their online presence. And trying to keep it together. As for JL's plea on his FB page, I'm sure he didn't mean to exclude mentioning his nephew as he knows they're together. I can't even begin to imagine the toll on one's thought process and emotions having...
