They may end up charging him with 1st degree murder, but in MN one can only be charged with first degree murder by a grand jury. A county attorney cannot do it on their own, so most cases that end up with first degree murder charges will start being charged as 2nd degree.
He is being held on suspicion of 2nd degree intentional murder without premeditation. Obviously that could change as more info is gathered. And he is only being held on suspicion of that charge at this time.
If it were effective then they probably would. However, the opposite is true. Violent crime rates have declined at a higher pace in non-death penalty states than in death penalty states.
Either way. He's never going to be released.
They won't offer anything with parole. He's getting life.
There is still quite a bit that can be negotiated in a plea bargain even without having the death penalty on the table. Prison placement, whether or not he has to stipulate to certain facts of the crime, privileges in prison, and many...
It's mainly Daily Mail that keeps running with that. While I guess they do count as "media", they are one of the more questionable sources out there. They pay for stories. They get it right sometimes, but are known for sensationalist coverage. Much less reputable than other media.
What's funny (well, not funny, because nothing about this is funny) is that he probably thought that missions like the crime he committed at the Closs home were what he would be doing in the Marines. Probably played a lot of Call of Duty or games like that. Little did he know that like 95+% of...
Between Jayme's account of the events, the 911 call, and the arrival of the police he couldn't have been in there for more than 5-6 minutes at most.
It's possible he sat outside for a bit of time. Not sure how likely that would be though. His whole plan was to do it quickly so I kind of doubt...
It's also very possible that both of those things happened. There's no video that I've seen of his family actually entering the courtroom.
Not really sure how much it matters anyways.
Totally see your logic here. It's the best clue they had, why not ask the public for help?
However I also see the logic of the other side. The side that says don't release that info.
For starters, I don't think they had a good image of it. The purpose of a dash cam is more for taping officers...
Very true but i went in and found that it took them over an hour and 20 min to change the the call from suicide to homicide. I absolutely understand it takes awhile to come up with the abduction piece but it shouldn't have taken very long on the homicide end.
At 1:11am (11 min after arriving...
I see what you are saying, and I would agree that there isn't really a reason to trust everything he says. But the part about approximately 4 minutes in the house pretty much has to be true. I mean, he probably didn't time it out with a stopwatch so it could be off by a minute or two. But...
I don't think road blocks wold have been a viable option. They are only about six miles from Highway 53, which is more like an interstate at that point.
With the amount of time it took to determine what happened it would have been at least thirty minutes since the 911 call by the time they...
