This doesn’t make sense to me. Why do you think he was going home when he was supposed to have been picked up at the tennis courts by his mother? There is no short cut through any woods that would have saved him any time between his home and the tennis courts.
In the first tennis court picture, in the back right, you can see the backboard wall where Michael was practicing tennis by himself. It is the same today as it was back then. He probably hit a ball over the fence and walked out the gate to get the bell. The railroad tracks are just a bit behind...
This is probably a longshot, but I am going to throw this out there for consideration and discussion. I have no way to connect the murder to the following person, but now I am wondering.
As I have mentioned, I grew up in this area and Michael was in the school class of my brother, who is five...
Kids do stupid things all the time. If the train was moving slowly enough, Michael may have overlooked the danger and considered it a thrill. Even so, the train probably didn't have too much time to accelerate quickly by the time the tennis court was reached. Regarding getting into a car with a...
My brother said they searched all over, especially the wooded area where he maybe did hop a train. I suppose if he hopped a train, it could have picked up speed and maybe he was afraid to jump off at the tennis court. He could have gotten hauled by train to the other side of Columbus or to some...
Last weekend I spoke with my older brother, who was in Michael's class in Grandview. He remembers no indication that the boy was abused at home, nor could he remember anything about the family's cars. Although he was not close to the boy, he did go over to their house a few times for a birthday...
It was mentioned that he missed an important baseball game the night he was abducted, I think. Not sure, but the hotel was probably there at the time. I got the one you are referring to mixed up with another hotel further north a bit on Dublin road, which is where I worked. Don't know about a...
Just a note per the Grandview map mentioned
: The Summit Chase high-rise building would also be east of Urlin.
Fun Marble Cliff fact: Prescott Bush, President George W. Bush's grandfather, lived there. Some stunning old mansions in that small village!
Nerosleuth's map in post #3 is pretty accurate. Only mistake is the tennis court
is on the east side of Urlin. That route marked in green is also the most logical way he would have
walked. I grew up in the 1000 block of Wyandotte, a few blocks west of Urlin. Goodale, the main east/west street...
Yes, the view from the apt. (now condos) building would have been looking right over the tennis courts. Tall building on a hill, where the term Grandview came from!
By the way - until just discovering this site, I was not aware the body was found in that area soon to be Alum Creek Reservoir. I...
Regarding the parents, all I'm saying is: for an unthinkable crime, where reasonable thinking leads to no killer, maybe it's time to consider unthinkable suspects. Sometimes folks are not what they seem (i.e. a former Grandview mayor resigned after being arrested for indecent public exposure)...
I have no info on the case - just trying to imagine anything that might have happened. I will be seeing my brother soon and will ask what he knows about the family. One person mentioned he may have worn the long sleeves to hide bruises from abuse; sadly, that might be an angle that was too...
I grew up in this nice neighborhood and Michael was in my older brother's class. I was only 7 at the time, so I only remember hearing about it from time to time many years later.
First, it seems odd that he would have walked there. It's about 8-9 blocks and even though I lived a few blocks...
