With some unscrupulous people a couple of grand debt can quickly become 5, then 10 then 25 if you don't repay the initial amount when they click their fingers.
The $25,000 figure could well be an exaggeration though anyway, I'm not convinced that the source of that info was completely reliable.
I will eat my hat if Karlie ever had $ 25,000 cash in her pocket.
I think its far more likely that she had racked up a debt with a dealer who was taking advantage of her, ie by supplying on a 'use now, pay later' basis at vastly inflated prices. Then when she couldn't afford to pay it back...
I think that by 'Karlie hadnt accessed centrelink payments' they mean accessed her bank account. Her Grandmother probably looked at a bank statement and saw that money had been paid in from centrelink but not used, and that didn't follow the usual pattern.
Just a FYI the list of credit card transactions released by the police did not show all of them, so there may have been more within that period that were not disclosed.
I reckon the second scenario is more likely. I think the fraud was a byproduct rather than the main motive, and longer they got away with siphoning off money, impersonating Karlie etc the more brazen they became. They really thought they had got away with it and would never get caught. I think...
Khandalyce is a very difficult name to spell. In this thread alone I've seen it misspelt countless times.
I don't think it is any indication of how well HP knew the toddler, my brother misspells my son's name all the time and they are very close, he's just not a great speller and doesn't place...
I think it is entirely possible that whoever dumped the suitcase had it knocking around for so long that it had lost significance for them. They probably felt that it was unlikely to be discovered quickly, and if it was that there was no great fear of Khandles being identified, just as Karlie...
Phew! I've missed two weeks of news on this due to a family bereavement, and what a lot to catch up on! I have spent the last 24 hours reading everything since the names were revealed, I'm so pleased that these two angels have finally been identified, and that convictions are forthcoming.
Is it a FACT that the body was a collection of disconnected bones and the tutu was nearby?
I thought they hadn't released information like that either?
Just playing devils advocate because I don't remember reading that!
These teatowels are usually be made from linen, which would decompose just as quickly as cotton. I think it is likely to be a synthetic fabric or have a surface treatment because it hasn't degraded like the quilting cotton.
I'm sure you are right about the drums on Garden Island, I would imagine they were fairly careful about how waste was disposed there with it being so close to the water.
They may well have been a bit less stringent on the mainland part of the Gillman area. Just speculating though really.
I...
It could just be a synthetic fabric, polyester or even a polyester/cotton blend would be a lot tougher than 100% cotton quilting fabric and wouldn't rot in the same way. It could well be cut from a piece of clothing maybe an apron or a tablecloth or something. Maybe the maker was just one...
It wouldn't take me long to make. Probably less than a day. I don't wish to sound snobby, but it's not a high end quilt. The fabrics are cheapish, if you used a mixed pack of charm squares, the border fabric and some cotton sheeting as base fabric it would cost no more than a tenner to make.
True, but there are always exceptions. Just think of Neal Falls, the likelihood is that he was a prolific serial killer, his only brush with the law was a string of parking tickets.
