GUILTY Canada - Tess Richey, 22, Toronto, 25 Nov 2017 *Arrest*

Long time lurker, first time poster... I’m really curious about this incident in August. Was this account of events accurate? Did he save a man from murder or was he responsible in some way? Will this event spark a PTSD defence? Pure speculation on my part. IMO

    Still Missing Canada - Alvin, 66, & Kathy Liknes, 53, Nathan O'Brien, 5, Calgary, 30 Jun 2014 *Guilty* *Appeal* #29

No doubt it was. As is/was the case with dozens currently in remand. You're talking about a facility notoriously over-crowded, under-funded, under-staffed and housing some of the most dangerous and depraved humans in the city. <modsnip> It's difficult to read some of the posts about where law...

Inmate protection before and during trial is a priority. Once the verdict is read and the sentence handed down, they're released into the wild. As has been mentioned several times, prison is a parallel society with rules, codes and practices of its own.

I think he was given a fair chunk from the sale of the farm. Plus, who knows how much cash he had stowed away. I have to remind myself that he wasn't stupid and he was incredibly manipulative. Based on his parents testimony, he had them wound around his little finger. I don't think it was until...

Prison has a code: Once tried and convicted, fair game. As much as we'd like to believe everyone in jail is a monster, there are decent people who just do stupid things and act on raw emotion. I can't say the actions of those four inmate were much different than the family friend decking the...

That's an interesting question. I don't think it was the case with DG's defence, though. I am curious to see if they continue to represent him. I respect the arduous task they were hired to do, however appalled I was by many of their actions - particularly the day of sentencing. I don't...

Maybe in actual prison, but it doesn't work like that in remand.

Minor injuries inflicted at remand don't go to the hospital. My aunt has been a nurse there for almost 25 years. It takes a significant injury to be taken to hospital.

A psychopath/sociopath with nothing to lose is terrifying. He's already proven to have no regard whatsoever for the law, consequences and human life. With nothing but time on his hands and vulnerable minds around him, what he could be capable of behind bars is worrisome.

I'm curious if now, with the trial over, his sick self-serving obsessive mind has moved on to how he can manipulate and take advantage of the prison system.

I've been following this heart wrenching case since day one. Such a great community and platform for sleuthers to share thoughts. I would not put it past DG to bring on the beating so he was moved of out of remand. Even a night or two in hospital is a treat if you're an inmate. Just a thought...
