That's odd, because if he was boarding the ferry "IN" Bremerton he'd be heading back to Seattle. Someone who was committing suicide would be heading away from the airport.... most (but not all) of the suicides we see the subjects are fairly directed about what they do.... Bremerton and Seattle...

I liked the case history on Dat Tat Tran (and so did the detectives) but he was excluded by the ME via dental in 2015, he was one of the first missing I submitted.

"Wayne checked out of a Health Care Facility and family has not heard from him since." That's certainly a fit on most of the parameters, it would be nice if we had some knowledge that he was heading this way. We had a subject drove from Chicago out here to commit suicide, told his family that...

? He was found off trail between switchbacks on the Mt Si trail. (closer to the top than the bottom, I can't release the exact location) It is possible he slipped/fell in snow, or lost the trail due to snow (it is relatively straightforward at least in daytime, but IIRC he did not have a...

On the height, I don't know. The ME staff are the ones who made the Namus entry, I was told. Personally I am more inclined to trust what is in Namus. (media gets facts and figures wrong all the time.... very few of them will even make corrections when they do, except Komo is pretty good)

OK, good that you found a source with Dr Taylor mentioning the dental work. I couldn't say anything about it. The equipment he had was DEFINITELY not suitable for an overnight hike or PCT hike. I'm not saying Dr Taylor is wrong, but it is a question of context. He had more equipment than the...

Good post, yes, he's clearly not a PCT hiker. As to the time of year, our guess is Jan-Feb, as people tend to get caught out by sudden snowfalls on Mt Si then. It has snowed there in the last week this year, but the elevation is still pretty high (not sure if above or below where body was...

It would be or could be if you were going to Snow Lake, Granite or any of the trails further east on I-90, as they are higher and get much deeper snow. But someone hiking is unlikely to have one unless they also had snowshoes, skis or ice spikes, trekking poles, gaiters etc. I'd say it would be...

As for the dental work -- someone needs to go find an official source for that, not a blog post....

The people who carry avvy shovels for digging snow caves would also have: - skis or snowshoes or spikes - ski poles - gaiters - better shoes - avvy probe etc i.e. not this subject. For an extended visit you would look for: - sleeping bag - shelter tarp or tent - lots of food - source of...

Much more difficult to find and contact these people back in 1994. Also, they're much more wired to moving people around PCT connection points, of which Mt Si is not. But - he also could have hitchhiked or got a cab easily. We're not so worried about how he got there, at least right now. And...

Zero evidence of that in this case. And who speculated that, based on what?

Yeah, the backpack is enough for me to email the detective, but I'll do it after she gets back to me on the current batch which are higher probability. Unfortunately that is or was a common backpack at the time. Also, the gear we found isn't really consistent with that missing, who is...

There's only so much they can do on the composite, they're trying to create a face based on the bone structure. Older people have the same bones, basically, but the skin is saggier and more mottled. So the composite could represent a younger version of the person. Please trust what the ME said...

Clearly a less than day trip. Not every piece of information is released in most investigations in case it is later needed as "holdback" information should it become criminal. Holdback info is used to crosscheck witness/suspect statements. This may not be the reason it wasn't released in this...

We don't get that much snow here, and also not the kind of shovel you'd use for that - people would buy a hardware store shovel for that. Indeed. There's effectively no way to find cabbies from 1994 era. SVT doesn't keep records, 2003 too recent to be used in this case. We did discuss...

Bizarre yes, but went missing in California... if it was someone who was driving on a road trip to the Northwest, that would be possible. Also less likely because DNA is there. (of course not every missing DNA is in CODIS...) But I did like the fit with the backpack.

There are plenty of mushroom hunters, but again his gear probably doesn't fit that profile as much. Most of the mushroom hunters we see are the "personal use" type, and while there are probably mushrooms there, there are better places so I think it less likely. Good question.

I'll ask -- this (and the watch) were early questions I asked... how about this, absent some specific response back from me, let's assume for argument's sake all of the hiking related items were sold roughly around 94-95. I did just come up with another good question - dimensions of the wallet...

I'm just going to say stop right there on this whole track - it is not helping identify the subject. The comment was about people who pack something they think is useful while overlooking the basics, it speaks to experience level. Our ability to make any determination in most of these cases...
