    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

What do people think about the strength of the case? The DNA, if obtained legally, seems to be very strong. There is also the phone record placing him in the general area that day (unlikely that he had good reason to be in Princeton if he wasn't working that day). Less strong are the witness...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

That's a good point - there's little reason for her to be on guard and to avoid walking by the SUV...no murders in Princeton for 30 years, it's a sunny Sunday, and the SUV is there for a legitimate reason (it's having engine troubles). Plus her mind is probably half on returning to the...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

Given that he didn't presumably work around Princeton on Sundays, and given that Vanessa apparently didn't run always just on Sundays...rather than targeting Vanessa specifically, I would say that it's more likely that he's seen female runners on BSR before, and thought that the place he parked...

I remember Mary Ellen O'Toole saying at the start of all this that: "if he's married, he would go back to his family that night and have a hamburger as though nothing had happened. And he could explain away the scratches because one of the traits of a psychopath is that they are pathological...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

The witness (who first spotted the SUV with the hood open at 12:45pm) then again drove past and spotted the unoccupied SUV (this time with the hood shut and the windows shut) at 2:20pm. If we take that at face value, the SUV was parked there on BSR for more than an hour and a half. I'm starting...

With all the people that you speak to during the week, surely it won't be too hard to get a few people to verify that Ortiz can speak English. Just praying that they executed the DNA collection "by the book". Surely they wouldn't stuff that up, would they? They're trained professionals.

Not everybody is as "plugged in" as we are. It never ceases to amaze me how caught up many people are in their own little world. I can understand how people would not make that connection- particularly months after VM's murder. I don't think we should dwell on it.

Obviously we don't know Hence the question mark

So the witness saw the hood popped at 12:45pm. Vanessa starting out at 1:10pm It was a hot Summer day. Was he waiting specifically for her? Ms. Ribot, a former employee in the Post Office where Ortiz delivered packages to, said it was known within the Office that Vanessa would run...

So happy Don't care whose theories have been proven right or wrong on here As Early said, all that matters is: 'we got him' And what a brazen monster - continuing to live in the area, and cruise around in the dark SUV

There are possibly only two answers to your question. Firstly, perhaps they both spent time with Vanessa separately - each living out their sick fantasies while the other ensured the that the SUV wasn't stuck out on BSR. The first guy did the hard work of taking her into the woods, struggling...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

Here’s my theory The same person/people is responsible for the earlier incidents in June and Vanessa’s killing. The link is so strong – similar description of the man, similar vehicle description, similar brazen approach in broad daylight, and within 60 minutes’ drive. They waited a couple...

June is also peak holiday season, so perhaps this explains the earlier incidents on a weekday. By contrast, he may have gone back to work by August and hence the Sunday attack on Vanessa.

It's seven months tomorrow since Vanessa was killed Hopefully, as every day passes, we are progressing to an arrest And, as every day passes, things become that slightly more bearable for her parents

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

If he was out hunting for victims in his vehicle, he likely had stocked the vehicle in advance with everything he thought he would need. Perhaps a blowtorch, some tape to put over the victim's mouth, and some rope or other material to restrain her. This would explain why nobody heard...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

Good work mate. If they are connected, it would seem that we're dealing with a predator who is brazenly out hunting for victims - and that he did not know Vanessa but came across her at random in the initial stages of her jog. I think in one of those Northboro/Westborough incidents it was...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

At the risk of stating the obvious, I think we can now categorically rule out that the same person was responsible for Vanessa and Karina's murders

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

Awesome post. I did not see this when I was on here last time. As you say, the similarities and relevance is striking - only 40 minutes away from Vanessa's crime, dark car, lone female jogger, brazenly in broad daylight. That there were two men involved in one of the incidents would also fit...

    MA - Vanessa Marcotte, 27, murdered, Princeton, 7 Aug 2016 #7 *Arrest*

A few things: - If the killer knew of Vanessa’s routine, that would in my view lessen the chancethat the SUV or any vehicle was involved. If he knew of her routine, why notjust wait for her on foot at the cart path on Sunday from midday onwards rather than massively increasing your...
