I still plan on pursuing this case, but my life is all up-in-the-air at the moment. I've moved, I'm starting a new job, yada yada yada. When things settle down a bit I will submit the potential match. I just checked NamUs and they updated the UID's info as recently as March, so someone is...
I am putting together a spreadsheet comparing this UID to Lorraine Pepe, in the hopes that it could help LE or whoever else look into it.
They both have dental records with NamUs - does this mean the most efficient way to submit would be first submitting to NamUs and asking them to compare...
Thank you for bringing the search international watergirl62! What a strange case. I hope she made it away from those shady characters. Her height seems consistent, but I doubt a wealthy heiress would have the teeth of this UID, and imo her facial features look really different.
No worries - I had to go back and check, remembering all of these details and keeping them straight does not seem like an easy thing to do. I'm just glad others are looking at this case, too! I might be new, but this feels like one we could collectively help out on.
From the Islip Bulletin (Brentwood NY) on Jan 18, 1973: "[girl scouts] paid a Christmas visit to the Anderson Adult Home. They brought 56 centerpieces, surrounded by cookies, one for each resident."
Until now I actually assumed it was a smaller facility.
Her height is probably outside the realm of possibility, at 5'4" while this UID was 5'10". I also think she has a distinctive chin, that this UID does not seem to have. Would be a good find based on distance - Chicago is 2-2.5 hours away by car.
I imagine it would be different patient to patient, resident to resident, but either stealing keys to get out or being in possession of keys that are yours or perhaps your relatives would both make sense?
It is hard to know why you would need to be in an "adult home" in your 40's. I imagine...
Lorraine is listed as 68", UID 70" estimated. That seems within the realm of possibility to me. Another poster brought up another woman who was 5'4", which does seem outside the range I would expect.
I am about 5'4" and I can't imagine being mistaken for 5'10"!
With Asian, Hispanic, and Native American heritage California seems like a likely origin possibility, based purely on past demographics and population numbers. Most Asian immigrants arrived in the US after 1965, when immigration laws were opened back up. Before this, Asian Americans were much...
You may be right about the tattoo, looking back I see it is more likely an ellipsis. I agree about the other physical characteristics - there is readable tattoo but nothing on height, weight, hair color? Odd.
I am feeling strongly that there could be something here with Pepe. The only information I have found about her, beyond the missing persons listings in NamUs and elsewhere, are what *appear* to be census records from when she was a child, in NYC (same as the key found with UID). I am looking...
I am thinking the same thing based on his clothing and possessions. Based on the date of 1986 and his prior head injury, and the unfortunate truth that so many of our veterans end up homeless -I am wondering if he was a veteran.
Thank you for posting that info about the witnesses! Clearly I am new and getting used to using NamUS based on my quadruple posting.
I wish there was a better picture of Sandra Breed, that also seems like a strong possibility to me. Would love to hear from more people about what...
There seems to be a lot of question as to her racial background. Is it possible she could also be Filipino or Pacific Islander, such as Hawaiian? Or do the DNA tests give a better insight?
Could this be a possible match to Lorraine Pepe?

Missing from Bayshore, NY (Long Island). Resident/Patient of Anderson Adult Home. Missing since April 10, 1981. Age 44, weight 135, height 68" (two inches shorter than UID), short brown hair, brown eyes. No photos.
I hope it is okay that I am posting yet again in such a short time frame, but there is an angel somewhere in law enforcement who clearly has taken an interest in this case, by the state of the NamUs page and recent updates. There are news articles linked from only two months ago on the...
There is actually more information listed on NamUs than I have seen elsewhere about where she was found, which wasn't in Bloomington at all but rather nearby rural LeRoy...
Heartbreaking that this case seems to have never been a priority.
