Based on the news that's starting to go around town, I think that yeah, at some point there are going to be consequences for people involved in that party.
I take your point, but he didn't have to wade through marshes to get home, there's a path. People have been tying blue ribbons on it for days now. Suggesting wading implies a level of effort that theoretically wasn't necessary. There's even a video of the path out there from some news crew.

Yeah my first thought was, okay, he took off his shoes to cross Mine Brook without destroying them - but the location of the first shoe makes no sense.
None of these are anywhere near Franklin, MA, for the record. Boston is about 45 minutes to an hour from Franklin (on a good day) and Newton is right outside Boston - ie, close enough to be on the Green Line of the subway.
