The Federal Bureau of Prisons requested this delay. I'm guessing they are observing more bizarre behavior from Eric. Look for an update on or after July 11th.
My guess is the prosecution is persuing federal charges and hoping for a more severe sentence against Eric Brown.
From what I've seen, the death penalty and life without parole is not a common sentence for a murder at the state level.

Brown was more cooperative with staff after he first received antipsychotic medication, but did not show significant improvement until several doses later.
Brown was "eventually was able to engage in meaningful conversation and began voicing some desire to advance his legal proceedings."
This Ashanti Alert expired Wednesday July 25th 2018.
The alert expires after 48 hours unless there’s a request for a continuance from the investigating agency.
The Virginia Beach Police Department is still pursuing any leads that come up.
