New podcast series on the case from Investigative Reporter, Andy Kopsa. Sounds like she's working with Brittany's mom, which is awesome! Seems to be a lot of clarification on the timeline, layout of the apartment, records from the Medical Examiner, and new DNA testing. Definitely worth a listen...
I heard that Detective Majors, who was handling this case, has retired. Uncertain what this means, but I'm crossing my fingers that the police decide to release more information about the investigation. Also, more DNA testing would be a good place to start.
Thanks for posting this. It's not a lot of new info, but I think it's the first time I've heard of Sheriff Regalado. Here's a snip from the article:
Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado was a homicide detective with Tulsa police at the time.
Regalado said Phillips' likely stalked her before...
I got some data from TPD on rape reports between 1/1/2004 - 12/31/2005. Based on the dates, I'm able to fill in a few gaps in terms of where Graham's offenses occurred:
Date of Offense, Location, home type
8/7/2001
9/16/2002
9/3/2003
2/12/2004, 6700 S. Lewis Ave., Apartment
5/21/2004, (an...
Welcome to the forum! I think we've messaged a bit on Reddit, and I'm glad you made it over. I think your post is really interesting, especially the piece about how the friend described the BFF's boyfriend as troubled. I'm sure investigators have covered their bases, but I'm still suspicious of...
Serial Rapist: Clues include panties, clothes
"Police say they found an "Encyclopedia of Serial Killers," several University of Oklahoma baseball caps and 38 pairs of young girls' underwear at the apartment of the man who is suspected of being Tulsa's serial rapist."
I mean, 38 pairs of...
Based on court information from OSCN - Oklahoma State Courts Network , I can see that Gary Lee Graham was convicted of offenses that occurred on the dates below. I found a couple of news articles that mentioned the ages and addresses of some of the victims. You can see that he was very active in...
I was listening to Murder Squad, and this weeks episode (Season 3, episode 2) was about the Kansas College Rapist, who assaulted 13 college aged women in Lawrence and Manhattan, KS from 2000-2008, and one more in 2015. I suppose it's possible that the same guy was around Tulsa in 2004.
But it...
Could be, and I don't disagree. I just think that statistically, it's more likely that the killer knew her. I also think that a lot of people who were cleared early were done so because of the DNA profile they relied on. That profile is useless now and can't be used to dismiss anyone. All of...
I don't see any news or new podcast episodes about Brittany's case, but I'm bumping it anyway.
In my opinion, one of the big things to pay attention to is that Brittany had just moved back to Tulsa Fall of 2004, and she just started classes at TCC. So she was new to her apartment building (and...
The 16 year anniversary of Brittany's murder was on Sunday. You'd think that if the OSBI is hoping for information/tips from the public their statement might have a few more details than she "was last seen leaving a friend's apartment on Sept. 27, 2004." I mean. Come on guys!!! They even still...
I missed this when it came out, but Casefile, which is an Aussie podcast, did an episode: Case 146: Brittany Phillips - Casefile: True Crime Podcast
A couple of things they highlight regarding the semen stain on the sheets:
Apparently it was the impression of Brittany's friend that the DNA was...
Something just occurred to me: the friend whose boyfriend stayed over was Brittany's best friend. I wonder if that's the same friend that Brittany dropped off the night she was murdered? Also, something that I didn't pick up on - Brittany was found in a tank-top and underwear... there was no...
Ok, initial impressions from info on The Murder Squad:
1) 70 DNA swabs is extremely promising. Yes, it's a lot to go through, but Paul Holes is right - it sounds like the CSI was very thorough. This case is still solvable through DNA evidence despite the recent setback. There were clear signs...
I have no idea how I missed this. The Murder Squad, which is an amazing podcast, did an episode on Brittany's case. This is a huge development - the podcast is so good, and these guys have sooo much investigative experience.
Here's the page - you can click on the buttons at the top for...
I agree with you on all of this about the blood evidence. The other thing that seems weird is that it took so long to identify the friend's boyfriend... surely the police spoke to Brittany's friends (especially one close enough that she actually stayed over at Brittany's apartment). Did the...
Well this is huge news. Frustrating, but huge news nonetheless. Have to stay positive and remember that any news is ultimately a step forward, even if it doesn't feel that way.
So now investigators will go back over all tips - There could be a lot that they dismissed because they didn't...
I'm super confused about this article. So are they saying that the DNA they have from the scene is not the killer's??? Or are they saying they had a suspect, but the suspect's DNA didn't match the DNA from the scene? I'm writing the author of the article for clarification.
I remember reading...
