Geee, anybody got anything? Can you believe in 2 months it will be the 12th anniversary of this horrible, messy, evidence-strewn crime and seemingly botched/sloppy investigation. The silence is deafening! If law enforcement and Durham DA have no announcements to make in early Sept. we ought...

Yeah, my bad, right after I sent that it dawned on me that the few still left here probably are mostly locals… which reminds me of one my constant questions: why does the local press barely cover this story any longer, even on anniversary dates (the public may have a short attention-span, but...

yeah, I don't think the rest of the night is really that important, but only the time during which the crime was actually committed... also this is a question I would limit to the locals who were hugely impacted by this grisly crime -- there are a good number of locals on this thread, but I...

certainly partly true, but that was a monumental crime for Chapel Hill at the time, and I think many, waking up to THAT news story, DO remember where they were the hours before, but proving it could indeed be difficult (MOST people were simply probably asleep during those morning hours, say 3am...

IF (and of course it’s rare) there was a deliberate misreading in the forensics lab or an accidental mixup of key samples then a re-do of the testing would probably show it (but yeah, there would need to be enough suspicion to force a re-do). IF the forensics work was fine BUT (as some have...

At this rate, I really wonder if this case won’t drag on sooooo long that MESO will die of some cause in prison, and law enforcement will simply declare the case closed. IF all they have at this point, after all this time, is DNA evidence, they probably know it will not be enough to convict (at...

No one else has responded, so I'll just offer that, while I don't know about an "affidavit" I think all the police had on MESO at time of arrest (according to press) was the the DNA match (both semen and touch DNA) and partial palm print match -- potentially powerful evidence of his presence...

"There is only [one] person alive at that time who could say where the Bacardi bottle normally was." there were several regular visitors to that apt. who likely knew where the Bacardi was normally kept... Brandon was there just the night before. Again, you make these absolute certain statements...

Just a couple of miscellaneous things: 1) over time, there were press reports identifying both the wine bottle and the rum bottle as the murder weapon -- I'm not absolutely certain which were accurate, though I'm willing to accept the rum bottle as the case (although there are other ways blood...

Not saying I believe this, but I’ll offer one scenario just as a way of showing how easily scenarios can be concocted: MESO and a buddy are at the Thrill that night; they see K & F and like what they see, but are rebuffed when they approach them. After some alcohol and/or drugs they decide to...

Are u saying you think MESO is innocent of any or certain charges? More generally, your posts imply you have a certain theory of what took place and/or who the guilty parties are... care to spell that out more explicitly?

First, I’ll just mention that Durham DA DeBerry (who’s handling of the Hedgepeth case I don’t fathom) thankfully did NOT win her bid to run for attorney general. My own take on matters under discussion hasn’t changed in some years: I think Faith was being “assaulted” by 1 or quite likely 2...

also, how are the press fine with this!? why are no investigative journalists all over this travesty; have they abandoned Faith, our community, their profession??? or just under gag orders? sidenote: previously I mentioned Durham DA DeBerry running for what I thought was re-election as DA, but...

just heard on the news someone complaining about the way the Idaho Kohberger case is dragging along because it's been 14 MONTHS with still no trial date being established! (AND it's a death penalty case)... Can you imagine what they would think of the years passing, and lame excuses, in the...

For awhile now the Hedgepeth case has made me wonder about the competency of the Durham DA office (I think DA Satana Deberry is up for re-election this year), and now comes another disturbing recent story in the news (nothing to do with Faith’s case)... I don't know a lot of details, but just...

2 years since MESO's arrest... another hugely disappointing news aticle: 'It's been two years and it's not very different': Arrest made in Faith Hedgepeth murder two years ago Saturday (...does the Durham DA even have a clue?)

Yup, so sad, almost reprehensible that there is no acknowledgment of the anniversary in any way... like an insult to Faith's friends & family, as if Durham DA and law enforcement would just like people to forget about the 11-yr-old murder and move on to the latest crime-du-jour... :(

Agreed... and the other (tangential) mystery to me is why the press hasn't been beating down doors for answers to so many questions... they seem to be AWOL; what's happened to the investigative journalism of the past?

Yup, a lotta blown minds on this case!! 1) I too think the evidence and/or prosecutorial case may be compromised in some way (several possibilities) delaying the case, though 2 years seems crazy! 2) I do believe there is another perp involved, but I don’t understand why that perp must be...

Totally agree (and totally frustrated); until shown otherwise, I operate on the assumption that either CH Police or Durham D.A. Deberry have botched this case in some way (maybe MESO is even innocent — screwy things can happen with DNA — or maybe he’s guilty but there’s nowhere near enough...
