Glad to see this on here, so many brilliant people gathered together can't be a bad thing. Prayers to Carrie and her family.

That is exactly what never made sense to me either. Thank you for featuring Barbara, it would be wonderful to get renewed interest in her case.

I agree. How do we go about doing that? -

J~ She seemed like a lovely person, had had half our town at her candlelight vigils. Barbara was deeply loved by many. Unfortunate that this crime may go unsolved, she deserves justice for sure.

I have never met her myself, but the crime happened in the smallish town I am from and I've always wondered why it wasn't solved.

Very Blonde Girl In Orange Chair With Ashtray

It appears to be a device for rolling "joints". You put in the marijuana and a rolling paper and turn the wheels to produce evenly rolled cigarettes. They can be used for tobacco of course too.

Long Beach in general has really nice and really bad areas converging within a matter of blocks. Not too close to B.R.'s IMO to count.

Danamc, B.R. wasn't the one that was dismembered. That was another woman found in the same area. B.R. was intact.

Dreamy, Pico Rivera is about 13 mi. http://classic.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Lakewood&1s=CA&1z=90712&1y=US&1l=33.8505&1g=-118.1471&1v=ZIP&2c=Pico+Rivera&2s=CA&2y=US&2l=33.983101&2g=-118.095802&2v=CITY from Lakewood. The "riverbed" is really dry in fall, it's literally ankle deep that time of year...

Dreamy, thank you for your honest, heartfelt input. We don't know unless we're in a similar situation, for sure.

Thank you for your interest in this case. I haven't read that B.R. had any children of her own, so I think it's extra special that WS members look into this. Maybe there is no one to pursue this on her behalf, you know? I agree that after a lengthy career in the travel industry she would...

It would be knee deep at best, maybe ankle. And right off the freeway.

Although it says "riverbed" in the story, it is So. Cal. and in Aug/Sept our "riverbed" is more like this...

No, I didn't know her personally, but I was born in Iowa, and felt extra sad to see Barbara had also been a former Miss Iowa. She appears to have lived a full life and had a lot of living yet to do. So unfair. I wonder if it's a lack of family persistence that has stopped this case in its...

What's so weird is this is a family-home neighborhood, and I can't imagine this woman going off willingly with a stranger. We've only had 2 unsolved cases that I'm aware of. The other being a hit & run accident that killed a young man crossing the street on one of our main roads. Very sad as...

Hi. I pretty much only post in the cooking section, but I always read about all the awesome cases you guy track and I'm constantly impressed with your brilliant ideas. (clap clap) I have no idea where to post this, but my hometown has an unsolved murder that seems to have dead ended...

    7.2 Earthquake SoCal Area

That was the biggest earthquake I remember since 1994. Our pool tsunami'd. No damage though. Thank God.

This is so sad. Bambi was from my hometown and I kind of remember hearing about this happening. I happy that the family finally has some degree of closure. RIP sweet girl.
