^^His name is James Payton (or Peyton) and he's a "maintenence engineer" in Chicago. They were together for 8 years but broke up about a year ago I think. Not sure if he has any kind of criminal record.
That might be so, but this wasn't a random crime. This was an act of domestic violence against a woman's family by her crazy, violent boyfriend/husband. It happens everywhere, not just in "bad" neighborhoods..
I thought that was strange too....this more recent article also states they did NOT search the family property because the Malinski family did not give permission to do so and they didn't have the probable cause needed to get a warrant. In fact, now they "don't remember" if they did any infrared...
As I posted earlier, I followed this case pretty closely as it was a local story for me, and I don't remember ever hearing of a "secret torture room"...he had a hidden room in the attic which apparently was filled with *advertiser censored* but there was never any indication that he was suspected in any other...
I am pretty familiar with this case because I lived in the area at the time the crime occurred and it was a big news story.
Malinski had no prior criminal record at all, was a former high school football star with a nice house and a pretty wife. He and Mrs. Kirkley were co-workers, she a...
At least two women who had hired Jennifer to baby-sit their kids before the runaway incident said she stole from them.
She also led them to believe she was a nurse, they said, showing up at their homes in hospital scrubs, although she'd never earned a college degree, much less a nursing...
I admit...I watched it. As a friend of mine said, these two belong on Jerry Springer, not on a prime time news show. Shame on NBC, and Katie Couric, who was nauseatingly gentle with "poor, fragile" Jennifer.
I would have loved to see Miss Nutjobbie explain that statement she made to the NM...
Was thinking the same thing. But I think it's up to John and Jennifer now. If it's true that he still wants to marry her, here's hoping they elope!
Also hoping they'll opt for maintaining what little dignity they have left and not go the book route. Not banking on it though.
Just jumping in here...I confess I've been lurking in this forum for a week or so but haven't felt I had anything to add. But if this guy isn't a "person of interest" then something is WRONG with the LE investigation. Tons of red flags, to say the least!
To all of you---great sleuthing...
I don't see where there's enough material for a book here! But, it's never stopped anyone before...gotta cash in before the public's interest wanes, I guess.
I know there's been criticism that the public and media are keeping this "non-story" alive, but if Mason and/or Wilbanks are talking...
It's at the Smoking Gun website...

She made up a pretty ummm...elaborate story, to say the least.
Interesting...because I think the opposite...the fact that she IS a pretty girl from a well-to-do family is why many people DON'T feel sympathy for her.
I think that someone who is at least perceived as being a person of privilege and yet manages to screw it all up is more likely to be...
