As FYI, Robert Moore (who confessed to and served 15 years for killing Virginia Lecorchick, an area young woman) is about to go on trial (again) for the murder of 15 year old Glenna White (who’s body was never found) on 4/21/2024. Some suspect his involvement in the other 4 murders too (despite...

So more questions about the murders... What was anyone doing at 3am in the woods with a high powered rifle? This is very rural and very isolated area. One would have to almost have very direct knowledge of the area to know they could dump a body and get away with it (much less 3 killers)...

I visited the spot this weekend were the girl's bodies were found and can offer this insight. This area is very isolated and very rural and very wooded. One would have to have an intimate knowledge of the area to understand this would be a perfect place to dump a body. As well, this is very...

    WV WV - Sodder Family - 5 children, Christmas eve 1945 - #4

At this point I think you sort of have to dig. The fascinating episode just released on YouTube shows pictures I don’t think have ever been seen before. I believe the author had the resources and permission of Sylvia’s daughter so it’s interesting to see through that lens.

For as much as we know about this story, there is probably more that we don’t. I’ve seen the pictures of the post fire scene and it’s fascinating. Those pictures tell so much.

Wow, what a great first post! Very eloquent and well spoken. I agree 100% with you for many reasons.

    2 New Sodder Programs!

Agreed. The history channel seemed to focus on the hype while YouTube stuck to the facts.

    2 New Sodder Programs!

There have been 2 recent programs about the Sodders worth checking out. NOTE: I have no affiliation to either of these, I just found them interesting. Enjoy (or not). There seems to be a lot of "content" on Youtube about the Sodders but this recent video is well researched and accurate. If you...

The Reality of it all now....

Thanks for sharing the info. It was said the fire burned itself out within 45 minutes and smoldered until morning when Chief Morris finally arrives. The fire burned unevenly as combustible debris (part of a book and other household matter) was later found in the basement (assuming in the...

Black market gasoline….Hmmm, I never thought about THAT. Very interesting. The Logistics might be tough but if there’s a will, there’s a way. But it probably would have been easier to keep in a garage or outbuilding than in the basement if nothing else for the ease of use. But again, I wasn’t...

    WV WV - Sodder Family - 5 children, Christmas eve 1945 - #4

John Sodder said to the police, that he saw his siblings in her beds. He said to them, that the house is burn, but no one reacted. Presumably was they already died. This could explain, why he not search his whole life to his siblings. I think Joe may have changed this detail in his story too...

    WV WV - Sodder Family - 5 children, Christmas eve 1945 - #4

A few questions if I may... The state fire marshall was onsite the day of the fire so it wasnt as if there were absolutely no qualified people around. Clearly the protocols we have in place today are drastically different. We dont know that water pumped into the basement would have froze. While...

    WV WV - Sodder Family - 5 children, Christmas eve 1945 - #4

A few comments if I may... I dont think the fact that it was Christmas Eve played a part in the decision to tell (or not tell) the family about the status of the kids. I think it much more of a factor that the fire chief was faced with the biggest challenge in his life and couldnt handle it. He...

Where did you find that George had 2 drums of 55 gal each of gasoline in his basement? It would seem impractical that he stored gasoline in the basement of his home, even from the smell/vapors alone. He may have had a small amount but that would be very heavy to move in and out. Furthermore why...

The Reality of it all now....

Furthermore, I had read that George repaired engines in the basement and I think metal drums (barrels) were found in debris. I would doubt George had gasoline stored in the drums. A large volume of gas in a barrel would be very bad to keep in a basement by a coal burning stove. Plus the gas...

The Reality of it all now....

Agreed the Florida angle is strange and I think there is lot more to that. I’ve heard conflicting stories about the FBI being involved. FWIW, I requested any info the FBI has but they responded their records were discarded. And another thing….let’s have a rational discussion about the fire’s...

The Reality of it all now....

I'm not sure exactly why George bulldozed the hole so soon after being told not to. It is theoretically possible that he was trying to hide something or could he have been trying to hide the absence of something (or someone). Then again he could have been so grief stricken that he needed to move...

The Reality of it all now....

That’s the difficult thing about this case, the more you dig, the more these details seem to contradict each other. I’ve heard that George called off the search after the vertebrae were found. I’ve also heard the investigation called thorough. I can’t imagine a doctor from the Smithsonian going...
