Blu Stephanos said they went through 100k in one day of pricate searching so I doubt there is anything left.

Thanks for finding that. It wasn't a typical SF summer thunderstorm that bows itself out quickly. There was a low hanging over the state throwing storms non stop. The weather report warned we would be having bad weather for a few days as a result of the low.

I guarantee the parents are not reading websleuths. But someone might read our comments about what went wrong and change their future behavior, saving themselves or their kids. This tragedy has already caused EPIRBs to fly off the shelves.

Someone posted a photo today of a cloud that sorta kinda looks like a dolphin and said it was a sign from God that the two boys are being protected by a pod of dolphins. WTH???

The newscaster is an idiot. The storms that day were definitely moving west to east. As a born and bred South Floridian, it looks to me like there is a storm just off camera to the left. The color of the sky is a tell tale sign for me. It would make me run for cover.

There is video of a boat out on the ocean not much later. I will see if I can find it.

The shot is facing east. The storm is coming from the west. Hence, that view looks nice and sunny. But the reality was there was a wicked storm behind the camera. Most summer storms come from the west down here.

You're welcome. As someone else said, it is a shame they didn't have a radio. Otherwise, they could have been warned or called in for help when things went awry. I firmy believe their engine conked out, which ultimately led to the capsizing. If they had been able to call for help, they would...

It is impossible to make it safer from an environmental perspective. There are alternative inlets north and south that are safer.

Snipped by me. I have seen similar thoughts from others. I think it is important to point out that the Jupiter Inlet is extremely dangerous. You can't even break your focus to talk to someone on your own boat. Forget trying to maneuver your boat to talk to someone going in the opposite...

I have come to the conclusion that they are people who have (a) never seen the ocean and (b) spent science class smoking pot in the parking lot, then found religion later in life. There is no other logical explanation.

100% agree as someone who grew up swimming, fishing and scuba diving just a few miles south of the Jupiter Inlet. People need to understand something about those videos of thousands of sharks in the area. That phenomenon only occurs a few weeks a year when sharks are migrating (like birds do).

However, it is still a very low statistic when you compare it to the number of swimmers in the water everyday. Plus, the vast majority happen in shallow water (and usually at dusk and dawn); the shark can't tell the difference between someone splashing around in shallow water and injured prey...

My understanding is that there was no develoment. The language was someone's misguided attempt to attract volunteers to search. Those FB people are insane.

I think the Coast Guard and experienced boaters in SF assumed they drowned but hoped/prayed they somehow got to their PFDs before they floated away. I think I read that you have a 37% chance of dying if your boat capsizes or swamps. I also think the CG was at a complete loss as to what they...

The family really needs to delete the FB page. The rabid fascination of the posters is morbid.
