I still think there is more to the story. I have always felt that the victim's friend was more involved than she said, and that it was a crime of envy/jealousy. See quote from article below:
"Mouzis argued that Reed had told a defense investigator after Roberts’ trial that...

Judge to hear motion for new trial in Roberts murder case
Sacramento Bee
If the motion is granted, Roberts and his attorney could be allowed to try to convince another jury that he is not guilty in Jessica's killing.
Thank you for the article above. So interesting.
From that same article
"Mouzis argues in her motion that the man lied to investigators about knowing Jessica, was unable to account for his whereabouts during the time the killing was believed to have been committed; and that witnesses...
You certainly could have heard about this guy, as he was brought up, but I also think since you follow all these cases like I do that Juggalos were suspected in a few others.
and here is another article from a couple weeks ago that also shows that makes me worried that they don't have a very strong case: http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article2604136.html
It looks like the only evidence they have is that the suspect and the victim shared cigarettes that night...
Well, this is interesting, as I never thought there was enough evidence on the guy charged. I always thought it was a group of girls, but here is another potential suspect:

If you are taking a shot at my transcribing, so be it, but I'm just relaying what the reporter and Chief Vogel are saying. If you can imagine an apartment complex parking facility as having storage and a dumpster in it, that is what it looks like to me, IMO. I think what started all the...
So just a couple words to clarify after listening to Chief Vogel while trying to type. It does appear that she was found in the red building that KRON earlier referred to as a shed. It is a garage type/storage area. It's big and there was an enclosed area, in which there was a dumpster, and...
"Appears there are no outstanding suspects" Chief Vogel
Suspect is 15
Detained for investigation of homicide
Dumpster is located inside structure, garage behind him in an enclosed area
They don't know if she was there the whole time or won't say...
Coroner will determine cause of death
People...
Looks exactly like the one on TV that I was referring to in my post, unless the complex is super huge and has more than one mailbox area and shed with a red door. Great memory on your part!
14 year old knew M, lived here for about 5 years.
Oh, and shed is right next to the mail boxes.
Sounds almost like they stumbled upon 14 year old who started crying when they were asking him questions.
From KRON breaking news.
Weirdest coverage I have ever seen. The cameras are off on the grass, but can totally film the large shed with the red door that the body allegedly is in. The FBI is at the door talking, lights are on and you can see partially inside. I'm used to the filming being very far away.
Latest on KRON: "may be connected to Maddy"
They are outside the parking lot, starting at 8 pm.
FBI are outside a shed with red door. Said her body is inside shed. Waiting for confirmation. Fresh scene, haven't seen coroner yet.
14 year old boy's mother is screaming on site.
I don't because I am watching it on tv, but here is the website of the station breaking the news: http://kron4.com
Does anyone listen to scanners like they do in the "basement" on some cases here? If someone is transcribing them, can they post the link to the basement thread?
Wow, good catch. Thank you.
I don't think it should be ruled out, as I'm trying to do a spreadsheet just to keep my own sanity, and your info fits right in between the Jan. 2003 - JLM begins CNU and Aug. 2003 - JLM begins football at CNU, so I don't think it is a stretch to say he was living...
