That is possible. But I still think he was crying at the memory of watching them in the moment they realized he had an issue that could threaten his being able to provide for them. I can imagine that would have been an intense moment. Not arguing the point of whether he did anything to let...

I'm no body language expert, but I saw a lot of smiling in the interview that I interpreted as a mannerism type thing... not being used to being on camera, particularly for 33 minutes. But I listened to this particular clip twice and do not believe he was crying for himself. He explained...

I do not know the answers to your questions, but if I may use them as a springboard.... I recall from several years ago some publicity by a local advocate, encouraging that people abandon the common term "commit suicide" and replace with "died by suicide." I thought the concept very...

Very helpful information on the legalities as well as the stats. Thank you. In the end, I think we're left with no possibility that makes a lot of sense to me. Just an incredible tragedy for all concerned. Maybe the press conference next week will help everybody. I really hope so.

I'm so sorry, Em. And you're right, of course. In Gail's case, though, since the claims of delusional thinking were made, I was looking at the "irrational" theory.

I see your logic. But... if somebody were planning suicide, a certain amount of logic goes away, IMO. I think that's part of the problem in trying to imagine suicide. If we're rational, it's hard to relate to "irrational." But down to your three options, I agree that accident is hard to...

IF mental illness is key in this case, I don't know how enough detail of that could be brought out to satisfy the public, without a massive violation of HIPAA. I am curious about whether HIPAA privacy rights disappear after a person is deceased. Does anybody know? Of course, to bring out...

I agree with you completely. I hope nothing in my prior post suggested otherwise. And you are exactly right. The Court of Public Opinion in this case has been brutal IMO. I'm not seeing a way at this point for MP to recover from that even if he is innocent. And it just may be that he is...

[bbm] Yes. Back to pure physical science. I can't figure out how that would have worked, whether the theory were MP himself or MFH (referencing the portion I bolded). Seems very risky and impractical, considering other options of method and location. And I can't get away from that 23...

The irony is that, in my opinion, the most people will be upset if MP is not charged with a crime. I believe the majority of people who have followed this case closely really want to see him cuffed. In my opinion, this would be the worst case scenario. The children would lose contact with the...

I wonder if it is timed to try to keep this week's focus on the funeral planned for Friday. Maybe announced now so people won't think the investigation has been pushed aside? I know that some people have wondered why they would be having a funeral first, before announcing findings of the...

TF, by "media manipulation," I meant that I believe the media has manipulated public perception. I don't believe the media has been manipulated. I'll add that "media" includes social media, particularly twitter and facebook. It's all a part of the filtering through which we view the world in...

Some1Nose, I think those are good questions. Rather than go through them one at a time, though, I'll say for starters just what if Gail really were paranoid and suffering from mental illness? That would answer a lot of your questions in a different way than from the domestic violence...

[snipped for space] I must ask... is it even possible we the public have been somewhat conditioned by the various media to see this in a one-sided fashion? Why would LE not just say MP had not cooperated? I've seen it in other cases in media reports, where LE made such statements about...

But... this is not the same as saying MP refused to allow questioning. I also wonder... if they had been questioned, would Callie necessarily know about it? I sure hope HCSO doesn't tell her everything. The sheriff has stated MP cooperated. I can find a link if needed, but I know we've...

Montjoy, I have searched for a source to substantiate that claim and not found one. IMO, you named it up perfectly: rumor morphed into fact. The media sources--as well as the sheriff's words IIRC--have consistently said MP has fully cooperated with LE.

Are you able to state your source? Not trying to be argumentative, but I'm still having trouble with the fact vs. rumor issue. And, frankly, given what I've learned through this case, a statement through news media doesn't impress me as much as it used to. I think we've seen cases of rumor...

This shows very well the extremely short distance from the intersection to the drop off. She would have had to stop at the intersection. I wonder how much speed she could reasonably have gotten before she reached the point she left the road. The debris theory seems remote to me. One of...

Thanks for the feedback, Melodie. I do wonder why you believe LE brought up the subject of cost. Seems to me that Callie has consistently probed for a story; I see little reason to believe LE would have approached the media. In listening to the video clip, what I hear is Atkinson emphasizing...
