Imperfect Justice-Prosecuting Casey Anthony by Jeff Ashton

Just pre-ordered my copy of Ashton's book through the WebSleuth's link, and I can hardly wait to read it! Thanks to WS and this forum for making me aware of it. I'm a huge JA admirer, and I'm looking forward to hearing his perspective.

State Motion to recover Investigative Costs

As someone who works in law enforcement, I can answer that question. When you lie to LE, you're wasting their time. We have limited resources as it is, and it takes away from other cases, other crimes, and other victims when people deliberately thwart LE. Citizens who truly want LE's help do...

The Verdict - Do you agree or disagree? #4

Don't forget: 5) A video of FCA confessing to the murder. But since they devalue anything that is "circumstantial" evidence, they'd probably toss that out too and say that GA coerced her into a confession.

The Verdict - Do you agree or disagree? #4

I would say that other than medical examiners and other personnel who handle the dead, there is no better expert on the smell of human decomp than a law enforcement officer. GA was one for a number of years and had been around the smell of dead bodies before. I agree that the jury dismissed...

Pictures of Casey Anthony from TMZ

I had a chin implant and minor nose job done at the same time several years ago. They healed much faster than I'd expected. I had to wear a nose "cast" for a few days, maybe a week, but there was very little to give away the surgery. I had very minor bruising under one eye which disappeared...

Is FCA headed back to Orange County for Probation?

Why is it that convicted criminals like FCA can be defended to the last breath for every unreasonable and bewildering act she's committed, but when it comes to a vetted court official like Judge Strickland who holds a vested interest in behaving honorably, he is immediately a suspicious...

Is FCA headed back to Orange County for Probation?

But in the interest of not clogging up the wheels of justice, so to speak, why would a judge WANT to make anyone force him or her out? There's no reason for it. If one of the parties is really against a judge sitting on a case, it's really not out of the ordinary for the judge to speedily and...

Is FCA headed back to Orange County for Probation?

Can I just say that I LOVE Judge Strickland's self-effacing and eloquent writing style? "The irony is rich." ...Indeed!

Is FCA headed back to Orange County for Probation?

Agreed. I honestly can't see how JB can unironically be described as "masterful." He was only lucky in that he got away with a lot of eyebrow-raising antics. In fact, he was so bad that, during the trial, the news shows were all constantly speculating on how FCA could challenge her certain...

Software designer says Casey Anthony prosecution data was wrong

Very true. And all of the DT accusations (via XICA) remind me of a quote from The Crucible: "Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God's fingers?" Why are some so eager to exculpate XICA when she is the only one in this entire case proven to be a liar, a...

Software designer says Casey Anthony prosecution data was wrong

That might be a good point if this computer forensics guy used his software to analyze all of the other evidence in this case, but he didn't. Thus, that argument doesn't hold water for all of the other expert evaluations.

Software designer says Casey Anthony prosecution data was wrong

The State is smart enough, professional enough, and experienced enough to know that every claim they make can be checked and that they are constantly in the public eye, ESPECIALLY in a DP case. They are not deliberately going to make up or exaggerate evidence. Additionally, expecting a...

Casey to be given new name & moved to secret location. Where is Casey?

Yes, that ear-to-ear grin inside the SUV told me that she is not living in fear for her life (perhaps ignorantly blissful, perhaps arrogantly confident of her inmortality) and that she wasn't the least bit unnerved by the crowd's denouncement of her.

    2011.07.17 Casey Released From Jail

I saw a live aerial shot of the Anthony house about an hour after the verdict was announced on July 5th. The entire backyard was visible; both the pool and the playhouse were still there. Seeing the playhouse sent a cold chill down my spine. The pool has no such effect on me, as I know with...

What are you sick of hearing since the verdict has been announced regarding Casey?

    1. That the prosecution didn't prove their case. 2. That it was probably all an accident/a drowning/GA's cover-up/due to GA's alleged molestation. 3. That throwing her child's body into the trunk of her car and partying for a month without any worry or remorse doesn't necessarily mean Casey...

Will Cindy be prosecuted for perjury?

Interesting! Apparently, then, it differs in different parts of the country. Here where I'm at, the clerk says, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" And that's where the question ends, period. I remember this so well because I've been in court on at...

Will Cindy be prosecuted for perjury?

I must not have read the correct books on parenting, because I would never--NEVER--lie for a jailbird daughter, much less in a capital murder case. Somehow, I've had the idea all along that showing an example of moral courage was more important than becoming a shameless liar just to protect my...

Will Cindy be prosecuted for perjury?

Normally, people are just asked to raise their right hands and swear an affirmation to tell the truth. And I didn't see any Bibles lying around HHBP's courtroom, either. The hand on the Bible routine hasn't been around for many years (unless there's very conservative areas that still practice...

Verdict Suggests Juries are Tired of Theoretical Justice & Circumstancial Evidence

I just have to say that this is one of the best posts ever!

What do you want to personally say to the jurors?

This is exactly how I feel. I served twice as a juror, and even in the short trials I sat on, we looked at and reviewed every single piece of evidence and had the court reporter come into the jury room and read back transcript. And because we truly listened to the judge's orders and didn't...
