  1. Miranda!

    FL FL - Terrance Williams, 27, & Felipe Santos, 23, Collier Co, 2003 & 2004

[ I have also only just learnt of this case. I think the police were able to both put a tracking device on the car as well as do forensic driven search because it was 'their' car! Thus no warrant needed.
  2. Miranda!

ID ID - Jeramy Burt, 35, Boise, 11 Feb 2007

Have just seen the Disappeared programme featuring this case. I am in UK. Was hoping to find out if there were any up-dates. Saddened that there seems not.

    Evidence

OK. And seen going south. Is it safe to assume that this was on N 14th St. and NOT on S McAuley Drive? 1. Yes. The door to doors must have been done relatively soon after the investigation began. 2. Of course it was by the wmpd! But we do not know the level of experience the policeman...

    Evidence

A number of assumptions are being made here. 1. We do not know date of these door-to-door notes; 2. We do not know who was doing the canvassing. 3. We do not know that JCB was actually at the address or if someone else reported that she had said she had seen them that day. We can...

    Evidence

I have been AWOL for quite a time and am only now catching up on this thread. I have ket biting my tongue not to chip in so very late in the day. However this post demands it! The 'junk science' issue has been dealt with. 'Amateur dentist'? The dentist referenced earns his professional...

Public appearances and other forms of cashing in ..

I have to laugh at the way all those against Echolls' efforts to make a living keep giving him all the name checks and free publicity for the events! Worth noting, however, that they are not making money on anything directly related to the crime. Just on the experience they went through. I...

GK's convoluted theory... what's yours? Please share!

An interesting take - I look forward to your backing up all the activity and people involved by citing the relevant documents at Callahans. Not that one can totally trust all the police reports and such but that is all we have to work with :). If you are going to include the step-father TWH...

    Viable suspect: Terry Hobbs #1

When I had a traumatic event in my life I started keeping notes. But I am a writer and also was aware that I might forget little things plus it was a way of focusing in a more detatched way. I then completely forgot about it and I only found it some 19 / 20 years later in the box where I had...

I got in contact with the West Memphis P.D.

The FOI suit was not to get evidence back so much as it was to be allowed to see the evidence! Neither of the two had ever been asked to identify any of the clothing found as belonging to which kid. Also, had they been allowed to see it it would indicate the case was considered closed, denied...

    Viable suspect: Terry Hobbs #1

As Pam Hicks (formerly Hobbs) and JMB are in contact I am sure we would have heard were the necklace to have possibley been Chris Byers'.

Yeah! TVS would have been great! A shame they cannot be asked to consider a case that leaves the main suspect free! That case has not gone 'cold' it never even reached the starting line. As CR says, the key to this is with the DA, Prosecutor Ellington. Some, including me, had great hopes...

    Viable suspect: Terry Hobbs #1

Something tells me that were it a 'baby' necklace on a fine chain (as in weight and size of links rather than in worth) we would know that. There is nothing to suggest that this was an item once owned by SB or either of the other two. We can speculate, but no more than that! Again, speculation...

    Viable suspect: Terry Hobbs #1

It was the year of the birth of all three boys. I should also have added that in the same box Stevie Branch's pocket knife was found I believe... Or it was found in another box at the same time! And yes, the work that Mark Cowart did has been circulated to various eminent forensic...

    Viable suspect: Terry Hobbs #1

    1. In many parts of the USA, positions such as Sheriff's; Police Chiefs; Prosecutors; District Attornies; Judges mostly get their positions dependent on popularity. That is, they are voted in, NOT by their peers but by the citizens. It makes no difference if the electorate have no clue as to...

Of interest to me is that, along with the partial, the necklace with the rather telling coin from 1984 and the marble!

    On False Confessions

You make a good point. Over here it is one of 'our' civil rights that our government has a statutory duty of care so anyone who is deemed 'at risk' in the prison system is carefully monitored or even put in a seperate part of the prison. In the US it seems, as far as I can make out, more a...

    Random things about this case...

I happen to disagree with this. Had the state chosen to go to trial again there would have been so much 'reasonable doubt' brought up by the defence that a conviction could not have been handed down! Well, at least, not in a reasonable court! So the probability of going back to prison did not...

    Random things about this case...

Not the case. At first his public defender was convinced that he was only needed to make the best plea deal he could. As things transpired Stidham realised that he was not guilty and, finally, Misskelley admitted this when his father was involved in the discussion. Initially he had considered...

    On False Confessions

I am not aware of any 'run-ins' that were dire enough to possibly end up in court...plus, as CR has so often stated, and I endorse, those who find it challenging to understand what is going on will act as if they know rather than admit to not understanding. Very typical behaviour to avoid being...
