SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

I think this is accurate, and likely will be how JS sees the situation IF there turns out to be something. However, there was a recent case in Arizona that resulted in a mistrial because the juror tweeted "we're almost done" or something of that nature about an hour before the verdict was...

JY Guilty of 1st Degree Murder: Post-verdict discussion

Link provided says he and MY "had relations" on Nov. 2. So, if you believe that link, that's what it says. Obviously, I don't recall testimony to either the contents on the comforter, or whether or not they had recently had sex, but there you go.

Guilty of first degree murder/verdict watch #2

I know that. And I think many people do believe her. But that doesn't make it a fact that she saw him. Just like there are many people that believe JY, it doesn't make what he says a fact. I think it is a fact that Gracie encountered someone that morning. It is an inference that it was...

The bolded part is absolutely not a fact.

Mommy is getting a spanking for biting.

They did that in an episode of Bones once. (Yes, I know, not at all accurate). But the victim had bitten the attacker, and was then buried for 23 years. There was a tiny bit of flesh left in between the teeth, and they were able to extract DNA from that. BUT, I don't know that they would...

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

That actually happens a lot! And I've been in a few cases where people who aren't even a party in a case will bring an attorney, if they have to get on the stand! I was one of those saying the jurors should speak out, because I was interested. I truly appreciate their honesty and integrity...

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

There was an article someone quoted yesterday saying it could be a few days or a few weeks. The juror issue in the Cooper trial took a morning to resolve. It really just depends on how quickly SBI can get the things they need to get. My *guess* is that the Judge will inform the attorneys...

Guilty of first degree murder/verdict watch #2

Surprisingly, that's not the worst picture he's taken. He looks oddly happier than the others I've seen of him.

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

There aren't many judges that will force you to serve on jury duty if you can't do your job as a juror, and have no desire to be there and enforce the law, or flat out say you don't want to serve. People get out of jury duty all the daggone time, for just about any reason. If you refuse to...

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

How will you ever find someone who agrees to be a juror if you spy on them? I can't see that being approved, or ending well. I remember the Cooper foreman, didn't he say his wife would cut the articles out of the newspaper before she handed it to him? If only it weren't so difficult to...

    That was a defense witness.

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

Yes, as I posted yesterday (if you want the links). A prosecution witness (Jessica Adam) brought a potential rumor of juror misconduct to the attention of the prosecution, who alerted the court. It was investigated by WCSO and found to be without merit.

Guilty of first degree murder/verdict watch #2

Here in NC, we're going to have the Jason Williford case up soon (April) out of Wake County. Judge Gessner is his trial judge. In Durham, Raven Abaroa is coming up soon as well. We may have a trial date for Grant Haze and his wife Amanda Haze this year as well. I believe Boz is on that case...

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

That's exactly what quite a few people believe. Many people post things on the internet without regard for truthfulness, or the consequences. I have no idea if this poster was making things up, or if she truly believed her hairdresser was telling the truth (and the hairdresser was making things...

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

I think that could be referring to the juror who was kicked off in the first few days for talking about the case in a restaurant.

A troll is someone who posts something just to rile up argument, or make people mad. MOO is "My opinion only".

SBI probe into possible juror misconduct

If, and it's a HUGE if, the allegations are true, the defense can move for a mistrial. The Judge's only options are granting the mistrial if the conduct is deemed severe enough, or denying the mistrial. Either scenario is tricky for him, because it is possible it will leave room for an appeal...
