Good link. I think we all pretty much agree that he doesn't fit the 'legal' definition of 'not criminally responsible". The fact remains, however, that there is something fundementally wrong with him. What do we, as a society, do with people like Luka? It's apparent that his brain doesn't...
I'm thinking he really didn't think things through at all. He got the idea in his head, shopped it around for reactions, and did it. I think he likely has impulse control issues so that once the idea was firmly planted in his mind, he couldn't step back from the implimentation of the crime...
I hear your anger, and acknowledge it. That said, there is no such thing as 'closure' for the grieving family. That is a catch phrase offered by the very same system you are railing about here. We can kill him, chop him in little pieces and feed him to the sharks and it STILL won't offer the...
no, people will turn in for sure. I'm just saying that it probably won't be as emotionally chraged as it is right now. Time has a way of easing things. The reaosn i have been following so closely is because this crime happened in my own back yard, so to speak. Had it been elsewhere, I may bnot...
Because time has a way of tempering anger. I can't say right now if I will be one of the few. I have no idea what life will bring my way between now and then to take my attention away from the monster who is Luka Magnotta, but I do think 9 months is a long time to be carrying the kind of anger...
Pretty much. I wonder how many will actually still be following this case in 9 months from now with the same vehemence we are showing now? I'm betting few.
It is very possible what you are saying is true. I have no way of knowing, nor do you or anyone else on this site. What we can all agree on is that he needs to be locked up forever. However, in our criminal justice system, he is entitled to his day in court, no matter how distasteful that may...
not telling you what to think at all. I am suggesting that none of us here are in possession of ALL the facts in this case. Funny you mention rodeo...I don't want this to be a rodeo or see cowboy justice meted out. I want a fair and just trial and I want Lin Jun's family to find some measure...
You know I have to ask you this, right? What if it is proven, beyond a doubt, that his actions were due to schizophrenia, or a drug interaction? Yes, this is going to cost us (the taxpayers) money, but isn't this the whole basis of a fair and just criminal system that a defendant be given all...
this clears it up:
Justin Ling‏@justin_ling
Magnotta had a psyc in Berlin. Leclair goes on to say that #Magnotta "trusts the Canadian judicial system."
Wouldn't they have asked for a psych evaluation? And honestly, if he IS insane, he is entitled. I know it doesn't satify alot of people who want nothing less than death but...the law is the law.
I wonder what the point of having him there in person would be? Apparently this is just a hearing to give the defense a chance to request a psych evaluation. In and out, I am sure.
My main point here is that I am tired of having to defend my empathetic nature concerning ALL aspects of this case. There have been mentions of his dysfunctional background given to us by an aunt, some school friends, etc...links for these can be found in earlier threads and it is this I am...
