Australia - Warriena Wright, 26, dies in balcony fall, Surfers Paradise, Aug 2014 #11

I'm only looking in again briefly, I don;t think I can bear another 25 pages of rehash. I just wanted to say TO GT should HE or anyone close to him be reading these posts, that I think it would be an excellent idea for him to consider going overseas on a volunteer project. I imagine he owes...

I think I'd regard them all as Mr (swipe ) Left... but then again Shooters probably wasn't even built when I was a "gell" in SP.

It's pretty unlikely they'd be sequestered. Nothing really has changed from yesterday that would preclude them going home... no different outside influences I mean. And they might agree between them to battle on for a little if they feel a unanimous decision is close , but it's unlikely the...

(or the best I can do to indicate Makara was quoting not opining). But the charge is murder, not manslaughter. They'd have to get over that hurdle by unanimous verdict, first.

Of course. They can revisit any of the evidence any time.

I would not have read too much into the Judge's wish to talk to counsel after dismissing the jury today. That was a mighty short judicial day, and the second one really as yesterday the jury was also dismissed early due to unavailability of (presumably) the one prosecution witness who testified...

Yeah but he's not on trial for being a jerk or a creep. If there were any suggestion of prior violence/deprivation of liberty the crown would surely have raised it. Not that "pattern" would matter much unless there was something sinister in it.

I'd also assumed what GT pulled out and was carrying, was a phone but I can see now that it would be too large. Before that was mentioned though, I thought he seemed to be walking oddly on those early CCTV shots, not drunk, but uncomfortably. Now I think having played over a few times whatever...

No, Trooper, it's NOT "usual". It very much depends on the case and its circumstances. This is a MURDER trial, and very specific in detail. Going into character at this point would be irrelevant. Get to sentencing, different.

And re the question of GT taking the stand, very interesting. Esp in light of what came out of G B-C appeal, where he kind of hung himself with his lies. I can only think that the choking allegation can only be overcome by (a) some sort of PM/ forensic evidence or (b) his version of events...

Addressing those who commented on GT's choice of words to his father... about not pushing her. I don't think you can hang anything special on that as there is little information on the family interaction or dynamics. All we know is that GT had had some trouble with the police on previous...

Australia - Warriena Wright, 26, dies in balcony fall, Surfers Paradise, Aug 2014 #6

There haven't been any Prosecution witnesses called to suggest any pattern behaviour, and the one witness left is, I guess, in the area of pathology. So I wouldn't expect the Defence to call any witnesses not relevant to the night's events. IF GT were found guilty as charged or of some...

Australia - Warriena Wright, 26, dies in balcony fall, Surfers Paradise, Aug 2014 #6

<modsnip> I never tried to knock Warriena.... she's dead, how much worse can it get. And the tapes, though I've heard them many times, are awful. No-one seems to cut some slack that these were 2 people who should have called it a night hours earlier. They met for a good time, maybe they did...

It doesn't really seem right, does it. A victim becomes a victim a second time in a sense. To my knowledge this only happens through the bail application procedure. Because that is handled by a judge (or a magistrate if its a less serious crime that doesn't have to be dealt with by the...

Australia - Warriena Wright, 26, dies in balcony fall, Surfers Paradise, Aug 2014 #3

PS I should add that I think before the next proceeding, each party may well decide to "deliver" to each other, a copy of what they intend to file in support/opposition, and only tender the actual documents to the judge on the day. There is nothing wrong with that and I think in this case they...

SA you are getting a bit too far ahead. GT's Supreme court bail application has been adjourned "to a date to be fixed" pending the defence making whatever submissions they want to on the autism or whatever suggestions. The "date to be fixed" will be subject to approval by the Court, but...

Yes- still to be dealt with. I don't know anything about next mention dates. It was relevant to the Supreme Court bail application because he was already on bail for those previous charges, and the driving incident , if proven, would presumably have breached bail on the earlier assault charges...
