I agree that imo they did it as a plan of avoiding being found caught, just that they were incompetent. Smaller body parts spread over a bigger area like this could surely have been hidden well to avoid detection.

The two separate attacks reminds me of Breiviks manifesto. Perhaps his plan was for someone to trigger his bomb (lured by the loud, repetitive music) and while emergency forces were heading their he planned to be in the movie theatre committing his other atrocities. Speculation on my part...

Agreed. It could have been his way of getting maximum exposure, having a live incident still rolling as America woke up and throughout the day. Here's hoping the explosives are duds.
