The JPSO and NOPD probably could have done a bit better job, but I don't think it would have changed the outcome. I'm more concerned that the officer BSL checked in with for being a sexual offender - who made notes of his recent scars AND knew he drove a white truck -- didn't put 2 + 2 together.

I can't remember who posted this photo of the cemetary... but it is really a beautiful peaceful little spot.
After reading page 4 of the disclosure, it appears that "tampering with" merely refers to the fact that he moved the body after killing her with the intention of hiding evidence (as opposed to, for example, when someone is shot and the body is left where it was shot). I don't think it means he...
Good point, unless there is very little tissue remaining or their is clear trauma - blunt force, stabbing, strangulation. Wasn't FACES involved in determining strangulation in the Pate case?
The Faces Lab does do trauma determination and probably work hand in hand with the medical examiner.
This earlier unrelated article says the FACES Lab made ID through dental records of another victim, so that might be all they are doing...
Agree. The Faces Lab does more than facial reconstruction. And your point on decomp and cause of death is right on, too, which is why they would need forensic anthropologists as opposed to forensic pathologists.
Talking this point through with several other web sleuthers, we've surmised that this date was perhaps when BSL tried to bribe the DMV employee. While that would pertain to Mickey's case, it doesn't necessarily mean premeditation. But who knows.

This article says her body was transferred to LSU Faces Lab for identification, including medical and dental records... so...
I agree. I don't think he was stalking her. But it is very interesting that he said something a month in advance that they are using against him. Wonder who A.D. is? I bet you are right about the DMV employee. On their disclosure timeline (pgs 9-11) they said on June 4th he had already tried to...
Agreed, but then where is the tip from the "concerned citizen"? Would make no sense for LE to not use the tip that actually led them to BSL in building their timeline and case against him.
I think all statements in this document are clearly related to the Mickey Shunick case. (Someone said perhaps not?)
Wasn't June 14th the date given that LE was tipped off by concerned citizen which I believe was discussed here as person from car dealership, but these documents show that...
What I found most interesting about all of this is on page 7 where LE is using a statement BSL made on April 20th against him -- a month before the kidnapping and murder of MS.
Regarding the discussion around BSL's "continued tampering" of evidence... This Associate Press report implies that this does mean moving the body. I'm not sure where folks are getting legalize information that "continued tampering" could mean other things. Would love to know...
"Mickey...
Bear in mind, BSL has been charged with "continued tampering" of Shunicks body with the intention of hampering the investigation. So it is very possible he didn't dig that grave when his cuts were fresh.
Checking in with the new news...and a few thoughts. They can't "confirm" without DNA or dental records but they know body decomposition, approximate size, etc. so they can be pretty confidant who the remains belong to. I also imagine BSL is talking - that he is the source of their credible tip -...

What continues to bother me is that BSL went to the St. Landry Sheriff's Office just over a week AFTER MS's disappearance and 3 days after police released pictures of the truck -- with wounds. How the h*ll did that office not even attempt to put 2 and 2 together? They knew what kind of truck he...
