This is what pisses me off about these things. If he were a blonde-haired blue-eyed 4 year-old white girl, the entire world would know about him.
Where is the public outrage?
Here is the photo I'm talking about. Of course, this morning when I was looking at it, I saw papers. Right now, I see air bag.
Either way, I am still wondering if he didn't encounter LE.
BBM. Some people do have extra insurance id cards in their wallets, but Louisiana law says proof of insurance must be in the vehicle at all times. Of course, that's assuming he was following the law, but most everyone I know keeps their proof with their registration in the glove box.
Sillybilly did an amazing recap on the other page, if any of you haven't seen it:

I woke up at 3 this morning with the thought of the missing insurance id card and keys blaring in my head. Actually, what was really screaming...
Upside down, that car looks like no one inside could have walked away, but at the wrecker yard, it is quite easy to see the roof is intact. I just don't see how there could have been a head injury with the roof intact and no blood inside the vehicle.
It's also apparent that no matter what...
To be honest, until all the maps came out, I always thought Shane, just like so many, became victim to the water.
Shane's story is bigger than that. I am convinced now that I know what I know. I truly believe that Shane's story is like none of us can comprehend.
Kenny, in my mind today, I have turned this over and over and I wonder if you all may not be able to get some answers with a lawsuit. It will be tricky. You don't have a wrongful death suit, because there is no proof he is dead. I'm not sure what kind of suit you have, but my suggestion to...
For what it's worth, the accident scene, to me, makes the accident look worse than it really was. A car on its roof really looks bad, when in actuality, a buckled up driver would walk away completely ok.
When you all saw the shoe, was it covered in mud, as if he had stepped off into it and stepped out of it because the suction had taken it from him? Did anyone see any signs of bare feet? I only ask because a barefoot would never have been mistaken for a shoe print.
I hate to even say this...
I'm not sure about every other parish, but in Rapides Parish, when you dial 911, police, fire and ambulance are all required to respond as first responders.
Kenny, when Shane's shoe was found, was it embedded in the mud, like he had stepped off into the mud and lost it, or was it just lying there next to the accident site? It just seems to me that if he was in mud deep enough to embed his shoe and he had stepped out of it, there would have been...
Which would make it certainly understandable why someone who had recently moved to the area wouldn't realize that "crazy *advertiser censored** curve" was right upon him. I don't think it was the few beers that caused the accident. It was the road markings.
Right now, I truly believe the LE saw him on scene, didn't know who he was and by time they did, had lost track of him, scenario.
I don't think anyone intentionally caused him harm, but I wholeheartedly believe their negligence did.
I also believe they know it and are trying to cover it...
I am just a simple girl with a simple mind from Alexandria, but I cannot shake this one.
Shane was not fleeing police. Shane was not doing anything he thought was wrong. I would dare say and go on to say, he was in the right frame of mind, even considering what all had just transpired.
I...
BBM. I think you are absolutely correct. I will tell you that this is what haunts me about the entire deal. I think Shane knew he was in trouble, and I think he knew he had to face it. There is nothing to indicate that he would flee police. His brother was on the way. When you have family...

There is great video to give you perspective on the accident site at the above link. This may have been covered already, but were dogs ever used to search? Once you see the video, you realize the massive area there is...
All I know is that he is not with his family tonight, and there is nothing with that guy that would indicate he would be any where else if he were able.
BBM...That is a great thought! Thank you so much for thinking it! For sure, that phone was not in the water as long as it was pinging. I remember when my company forced us all to take company cell phones. When I called to activate it and the IT guy told me, "You are up and running!" I...
You know, your post just made something click in my brain. Shoes often get knocked off people's feet upon impact in a car accident. As a teenager, I rear-ended a car LOAD of people, and all of their shoes were knocked off. The shoe may be simply a victim of the accident and not a clue...
