Part of me hopes it is Marie to give her family answers, the other part hopes it is not her and that she has gone to live her life with her baby elsewhere..

Police say that a person who was geocaching – using a GPS to find small treasures that other people have hidden – found “what appeared to be human bones” on Monday around 1 p.m. in the 1600 block of Riverside Road.

The remains were found in a wooded area at the top of a field across the road from the Riverside homeless shelter. That area was still taped off on Tuesday morning, and investigators were on scene.

BBM. This makes me think that it could be someone from the shelter. :(

by Craig Takeuchi on February 9th, 2018 at 10:49 AM

Police identified human remains found in Abbotsford as belonging to a woman who went missing last summer.

The family of 52-year-old Deborah (Debbie) Ann Hycha, who was last seen in Abbotsford on May 10, 2017, was reported missing by her family in June 2017.

In September, her family had held a press conference and offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could provide information to locate her. She had grown up in Smithers, B.C.; had moved to the Fraser Valley after graduating from high school; and had worked in hairdressing and costume design.

Around 1 p.m. on February 5, police responded to call about the discovery of human remains in a field in the 1600 block of Riverside Road in Abbotsford.

Based on forensic analysis, the B.C. Coroners Service, the Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit confirmed her identity on February 8 and that it was not a suspicious death.
