[h=1]Bay Area pimps arrested in underage human-trafficking sting[/h]
SAN FRANCISCO — An annual effort to recover victims of child prostitution and draw attention to the problem of sex trafficking culminated in the arrests of four pimps and the rescue of two victims in the Bay Area, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children announced Wednesday.
“This operation isn’t just about taking traffickers off the street. It’s about making sure we offer help and a way out to these young victims who find themselves caught in a vicious cycle of abuse.”

Locally, the FBI partnered with 22 agencies including the San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco police departments; the Santa Clara, San Mateo and Marin county sheriff’s offices; and the Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda county district attorney’s offices.

In addition to arresting or citing four pimps and recovering two victims, authorities in the Bay Area also contacted, arrested or cited 27 women for prostitution; arrested or cited 12 male johns; and arrested five men for solicitation of a minor, according to the FBI.

The victims who were rescued — a woman and a 17-year-old — are receiving services from agencies dedicated to assisting trafficking victims, according to the FBI. The women involved in prostitution who were contacted during the operation also were offered services.

[h=1]Fresno teen found, victim of human trafficking[/h]
FAIRFIELD, Calif. (FOX26) — A 16-year-old runaway from Fresno has been rescued from human trafficking in Fairfield.

On Friday, October 27th, a patrol officer noticed what appeared to be a prostitute and stopped to investigate.
The officer took the time to talk with the young lady and discovered she was a runaway.
During conversations with the young victim, the officer learned she was being victimized by a man more than twice her age.

Suspecting she was probably a victim of human trafficking, the officer turned the case over to a detective from the Family Violence Unit.

The victim admitted to the detective she had been trafficked in Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Oakland, and San Jose over the past four years.

The Big Search is on for missing children in Las Vegas

Goff, a woman’s outreach coordinator with F.R.E.E. International, a human trafficking advocacy group, and they were performing The Big Search.
As the influx of tourists come in for Super Bowl weekend, hundreds of volunteers for the organization are hitting the streets with flyers of missing children, hoping.

By Friday, two were already recovered safety, and 30 solid tips had come in.

The search started Thursday and continues through Saturday, lasting from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

“Super Bowl is a high time, people will bring in folks that are trafficked specifically for the money,” said Tamia Dow, a retired Metropolitan Police Department detective who was volunteering. “There are so many people to service. They have all these customers.”
F.R.E.E. International, which stands for find, restore, embrace, empower, also partnered with Nevada Child Seekers for the search.

Some 200 people are participating, including volunteers from the Metropolitan Police Department, Cox Communications, and NV Energy.

Michael Bartel, executive director of F.R.E.E., started the organization with his wife, Denise in 2007, after first learning of the human trafficking epidemic while campus pastors at Purdue University.

“We’re a boots-on-the-ground couple,” he said. “We want to be engaged.”
Being on the streets leaves young people vulnerable, Bartel said.
“It’s an opportunistic environment for predators,” he said of major events such as the Super Bowl. “It’s not just about the game; it’s about how much money comes into an area over a certain period of time.”

Warrants: Denton father sold teen for sex, planned to do it again

ROCKWALL - Arrest warrants have revealed new details in the case of four North Texas family members allegedly involved in the selling of a 14-year-old girl to an Illinois family for sex.

Authorities claim the teen was sold and sent out of state but then picked up when her father, 31-year-old Steven Marks of Denton, didn't receive the full negotiated price for the young girl. The father then allegedly began to make plans to sell his daughter again, this time to a family in Florida.

The investigation began when the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services reported the teen missing to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Sept. 26.

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. – A 16-year-old girl is back in New Mexico after authorities tracked her down in Phoenix, Arizona, where they say she was being sex trafficked.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office says they were contacted by CYFD in mid-January in reference to the missing teenager. The office’s Ghost Unit began its investigation that led them to a well-known website where they discovered that the teen was in Arizona.
Officials acted immediately and the teen was rescued with 24 hours of the initial CYFD tip.
Through their investigation, officers were able to arrest 23-year-old Camara Cherry-Amos. She was identified as one of the sex traffickers who had forced the teenager into prostitution.

Further investigation found that from February 2017 through January 2018, a sex trafficking operation based out of Albuquerque was being operated in five other states including Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Florida and Maryland.

American Airlines agent saves 2 teenage girls from human trafficking scheme

https://verizon.yahoo.com/news/american-airlines-agent-saves-2-153552330.html

Law enforcement officials say that a quick-thinking airline employee, aptly named Denice Miracle, likely saved two teenage girls from a human trafficking plot.

Miracle, an American Airlines agent at California's Sacramento International Airport, was working at the ticket desk on Aug. 31 when two girls, aged 15 and 17, approached her counter, according to KOVR.

Miracle said the teenagers, who were trying to board a flight to New York, had a small number of bags with them, but no form of identification and no adult guardians.

The vigilant employee began to think something was seriously wrong when she noticed that the tickets, both first class, were purchased online with a credit card under a name that did not match what either of the teens had provided.

"It was a first-class ticket. It was very expensive. I told a supervisor, 'I'm going to call the sheriff. It just doesn't feel right to me,'" Miracle said.

When deputies arrived at the airport, the teens admitted that their pricey tickets were purchased by a man named "Drey" who they met on Instagram.

Apparently, the stranger told them that if they flew to New York for the weekend, he would pay them $2,000 to model in a music video.

Authorities say they located "Drey" on social media, but after briefly making contact with him, all of his accounts went dark.

"We attempted to look him up on Instagram," said Deputy Todd Sanderson. "Just a few minutes after our contact with him, he erased all of his profiles on social media."

When Deputy Sanderson informed the teens that their tickets had no return flights, he said they became defensive before ultimately accepting what could have happened to them.

[h=1]Fresno teen woman arrested for trafficking missing girl, investigators have questions[/h]
San Bernardino, California - Nicole Williams, a Fresno teenager, is facing human trafficking charges. Investigators say she was caught trafficking a missing girl in downtown San Bernardino. The human trafficking task force in San Bernardino is concerned there may be more victims with ties to Williams. Here locally, law enforcement officials and victims advocates say they know Williams and there could be more to this story.

"She was booked for felony charges of human trafficking and pandering and her bail was set at $150,000," said San Bernardino Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Jodi Miller.

The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department says19-year-old Nicole Williams is from Fresno and was trafficking a missing girl in downtown San Bernardino when she was arrested. Now her picture is being shared with law enforcement in Fresno in the hopes of identifying any other possible victims.

There certain level of revisionist history that goes on with a lot of these accounts however. I am guessing that most of those accounts are from women from low socio-economic backgrounds who engage in sex work as a survival strategy or because of addiction issues, and now that they have moved on in their lives they are trying to rationalize it. The lower end streetwalkers mostly. Most prostitutes do it because it is an easy way of getting a lot of money for relatively little effort however, there are not that many who are forced into the life. When the choice is making minimum wage for 8 hours of work, or getting a weeks equivalent for an hours effort, it is pretty tempting to do that.

Incidentally the “knock and talks” that some police forces do are not all that popular with the sex workers themselves. Prostitution is legal is Canada, and the tactic is used to harass and intimidate them in the absence of having a legal reason to arrest them.

Did you miss the part about most starting at 12-13 years of age? That’s not a choice, it’s exploitation and it’s rape. Easy way? That’s disgusting.
