I think once CM sits down and READS the discovery so far, look out. He will use his contacts to sniff out a plea. He is established so it is not the same thing as Baez. I, for various reasons, have involvement with a fair-sized section of my area's legal defense community. Once you have made your bones and have what you think is a guilty client on your hands, PLEA.
DISCLAIMER: I am not LE or in the legal profession in any way. I did a lot of time in a few different places until God delivered me from my penchant for drugs.

ThommyMac, I love your input. Thank you.

Bold mine

I thought that JS gave the defense until end of day tomorrow. Anyone else?
that's what I heard too - the 15 days was for JB to review the "unsealed evidence" (letters) and file a motion to supress it from public record at which time the media will be allowed to argue against suppression. That was my take.

Hi Thommy, I can tell you that he will say several lawyers and numerous paralegals at his firm work this case, round the clock
every phone call
every fax
every letter that a secretary is asked to type
every moment researching case law
every courier fee
every bit of postage
every jail visit
every interview
every phone call
every deposition service
every transcript
gas
recording equipment/ CDs and like supplies
cameras
lots and lots and lots of yellow notepads for Casey will wind up on a illustrious bill.

He will get a sample from another file from a buddy lawyer and cut and paste it if I had my guess.

Fortunately, no amount of money or man power can erase those 31 days that KC failed to report her daughter missing. That single item alone is what has lead me to believe since the start of this mess that KC killed her daughter.
Whether or not it was an accident may be something he can play with, though. That is dependent on more intricate evidenciary arguments.

Yes, WFTV and articles confirmed he is most definitely death-penalty qualified.

Sorry if this has been mentioned...Did you see CA get a call or text message and run out of the courtroom, then return looking like the 'cat that swallowed the canary'? Is it possible that she was invited into the room to see KC?

It boggles the mind that these suppossedly intelligent and well educated think they can just show up in court and say that all the money is gone and now we want the State to foot the bill, without coming in with an account of how monies have been spent thus far. What did they think the court would ask?? It is yet another example of how "unprepared" and thoughtless they are, espceially of the court's time. Some one on that team had to know that they would have to show an acounting and source of the funds to date.(&^%$

They are asking that the State of Florida just provide them money, for a "defense" of someone the rest of the world knows is guilty. Yes everyone deserves a fair trial . . .
From now on, they will have to begin the accounting of where the money is going. Who knows if they really did much tracking of the funds up till now.JMO

BBM
They (the defense) will have to keep precise accounting to get money from the JAC. I'm not sure they'll be too happy with that-but they'll have to live with it!!

Naw, that canary's been stuck in her teeth since 07/16/2008.

Oh I forgot, the most obvious prediction

Baez is certainly not first chair to Mr. Cheney. Baez will be the errand boy now. There is a new sheriff in town and he has just marked all four corners of that courtroom. I am not familiar with him, but it didn't take long to surmise those were the stipulations to him leading this team, he is no bench warmer, clearly.

Frankly, I am relieved because it will be close to impossible now for her to cry ineffective counsel in two years when this very expensive, protracted case is over.
I didn't get to see..did mom and pop make any comments before during or after? Did Brad look like he has had it with them?
That new PR gal is probably thinking just shoot me!!!!

Just wait until the judge reads the evening paper and sees the quote from the ABC executive who divulged to a local reporter that ME BAEZ BROKERED CASEY'S DEAL WITH THEM. I am thinking broadcasting may be something Baex may want to look into if he is disbarred. He does love the camera.

Anyone put in a call to Liz Brown at Depaul for a comment about Depaul raising $$ for a FL. case????? I'd like to see those non-profit forms please...... and the accounting records.

Yes, WFTV and articles confirmed he is most definitely death-penalty qualified.

PERFECT! :blowkiss:

The timing of his appearance and at the very hearing the defense requested to declare KC indigent tells me AL is gone bye-bye for sure.

eta: why would JAC agree to cover AL's travel expenses if they already have a DQ attorney???

Bold mine.

Oh, they knew...they just hoped that JS didn't make them show it, and that he would just grant the indigency. Now, since JS wants an accounting, the defense asked for and got a few days to tally this up...it's all about delay, delay, delay. :banghead:

This whole being at work thing while all this is going on is just not working out for me!

Dang my lack of vacation days!

I am willing to take bets that the JAC got lots of calls from "concerned Fl. taxpayers" and that they had no choice but to respond by playing hardball. I think this caught Cheney Mason off guard. JAC (according to RH) is not known for digging in deep at this stage.

I think this time......they had no choice.

From what I was told today about the JAC from a young (newbie)defense attorney.
The JAC is a real b!tch! The defense attornys all hate the JAC! Said most of the time the JAC will turn down request but judge will over rule, has to. Could/would mean appeal. Also said the JAC will scrutinize everthing. (Which IMO they should)

ITA!

I never even saw Brad. I know he didn't arrive with CA & GA. I thought I saw a post fly by where someone said he came in the courtroom though.

Dream Team: You all agreed to represent this murderer Pro-Bono.....then frickin do that!!!!!!!!! Do you really expect to get paid expenses and such (computers!!!????) all of a sudden? I think NOT

Secondly, did anyone else notice how angry Casey got after Jose testified that the backpack full of pics sold to ABC was Casey's deal? Casey grabbed her little yellow legal pad and wrote something. Wonder what it was? It looked as if the pen was going to make marks through the pad and onto the desk!!! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR PS: Seeing Casey go ggggrrrrrrr really, really makes my day :o)

It looked to me that KC got angry and started writing when Jose brought up the rumors of $700,000. I'll have to watch it again. But yeah, it was really funny seeing her get so pissed. She's so obvious!

Does anyone else see the impact of Todd Macaluso putting his own money into the defense fund???? Was he attempting to "launder" it through out of State channels in an effort to hide it from those investigating his books for misuse of client money????? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

....which is why CM used the tactics he used today-to create confusion disorder, give the judge the sense that he should rush things along.
So glad Judge S. has such solid character.

Re: Brad TWA - no he was sitting in the aisle beside George, chatting and laughing away during the break when the defense lawyers went to confer. You could see the deep freezer placed between Cindy and George however - Brrrr. Oh yes, and George had his "Morgan depo face" on through most of it.

I think I saw one of our esteemed members sitting at the back of the courtroom - hope she gives us some input - besides our beloved Muzikman of course.
