Ok I’m confused now...are you thinking that this is part of an alibi? That the friend called the phone and 2 people pretended to be looking for

You are more than likely sober when doing that? I only assume they were not because they had been at the bars since 6:30pm and DNV mentioned in a txt she was drinking.
When I call my phone from someone else’s looking for it, after I hear the first ring on the line I take the phone from my ear so I can listen for the vibration..my phone is always on vibrate. Maybe hers was too, in a crowed bar I can see having your phone set to vibrate because you wouldn’t hear any notifications anyways.
That's true. I am generally sober when doing that, but I could see how if I weren't I'd have a slower reaction time. So if they were in fact intoxicated and had such slowed reaction times, what in the world were they doing driving around like that?

I am. Idk who or when DV phone was retrieved. There’s been hearsay from various people involved. I guess I’m wanting to see LE stating info about this is all. I know it’s been discussed in previous threads. Wondering if we have le statements to back it up so we know for sure.

Thank you to imstilla.grandma for finding this:

"Fox 10 News reports that Danniella Vian vanished on July 17 after leaving her cell phone at a bar in Mobile. Vian had reportedly gone to The Dublin Pub & Eatery with a friend, and left in two separate cars to go to another venue. Along the way, Vian realized that she did not have her cell phone, and flashed her headlights at her friend’s car to alert her, before they pulled in to a gas station to look for her phone in the car. When she didn’t find it, Vian reportedly decided to return to the pub to look for her phone.

She has not been seen since driving off."

Keep in mind the source here is not LE. The Fox 10 article cites family for this info. It's part of the hearsay.

Thank you. But I’m referring to a link in regards to who found the phone and where etc. I’m not disputing the fact the phone was lost or left behind. Tyia

I am assuming that the phone was retrieved by Danni's friend at the pub per their plan to retrieve it, and that the phone was delivered to police the following Friday per statements from the ex-boyfriend's mother.

Daniella flashed her headlights at him, not her. The friend was male

I don’t think DW did anything because he wouldn’t have alerted JDT about the phone or been on the way to the PD to file a report that Friday
A guilty person would not have even gone and gotten the phone
MOO
In the very beginning I thought DW was responsible just based on the two facts: last one to see Daniella, and in possession of her phone. Man that looks bad. But after digging into the timeline there was really no way for him to be responsible. Not ruled out completely just highly unlikely.

He also willingly went with JDT to the station and talked to detectives.

That's why I get hangups on the known parties. If DW did something, why return the phone? Why talk to detectives? If JDT knew something, why not file the report and leave it at that? Why spend days passing out fliers? Why get signs printed? Why get involved with groups? Why meet frequently with detectives for updates and talk to the media when you could slip up? It could be said to "draw suspicions away" but that could literally be said about all of them.

I guess that would depend on which timeline you’re looking at. Regardless, he is less than an acquaintance to her and essentially goes out of his way to retrieve her phone and then keep it for 3 days.

He tried to return the phone to the ex-boyfriend's mother at 7:30 the following morning. She told him to leave the phone at a restaurant. If I found a phone that belonged to a friend, I would not leave it at a restaurant. I think the request to leave it at a restaurant is the odd thing, and turning the phone in to police is the normal thing.

Here's another thing that has yet to be answered: Why did DW and DNV end up at the Shell station when they allegedly were both supposed to be going to Ollie's, right around the corner?

How did they end up there? Why were they going that direction? Tons of hearsay regarding it. What is the truth? I think one of the first reports said that DW told JDT he was going home and DNV must not have realized it and followed him. DNV knew the location of Ollie's per her friends. She knew that whole area. So why was she following him? Why would she follow him so out of the way?

Here is a "master list" of MSM articles regarding DNV's case. If I've missed any, feel free to add them/let me know! (Might have to come back in a minute and clean this up if it doesn't post neatly...)

MOO... I don't know what to think happened here. I just wanted to say that one possible answer to your questions about why a guilty party or accomplice would talk to LE or help search (paraphrasing) might be: to control the narrative; or to see what LE knows.

If the person responsible for her disappearance and death also had her phone, why not smash the phone and leave it in the glove box to be water damaged for 9 months? Why not toss it in a dumpster? Why pick it up in the first place? I know the answer to the last question is "to delete things from it" but then why not just throw it in the harbor afterwards?

Presumably DW had to work the next day and couldn't just take time off to go track down a girl he met the night before and thought, rationally IMO, that the person who lost the phone would be the person responsible for retrieving it.

If you just killed someone, why would you answer your victim's phone the next morning when it rings?

I've defended people involved in cover-ups. Cover-ups are usually destroying evidence and trying to not leave a trace or develop an alibi before the wrong-doing is discovered. I've never seen someone go to the police as part of a cover-up. Cover up would be picking up the phone, deleting messages, and leaving the phone at Dublins again. Rushing home to your wife and posting on FB to get some contemporaneous evidence that you are home and not out.

I don't know who is or isn't involved but I can't imagine LE didn't look into this already and hopefully rule someone in as a POI or out.

I agree because even in lies there is some truth. I believe DW went back to Dublin’s and ended up with the phone. I believe he called JDT a couple times and then met her at the police station. I only wish he handed the phone to the police not JDT who has admitted tampering with it.
