Tyrone Hollis, 30, was arrested about 30 minutes after police got a call about the death of Janice Marie Hollis. A motive for the slaying was not immediately known.
Hospital spokesman Keith Ayers said the hospital went into "red alert," which means heightened security, but resumed normal security after the quick arrest. No other injuries were reported.
Ayers said there are no metal detectors in place at the hospital.
