I am pretty sure (Marly!!?!) that the QPS stated very early on that her phone was still pinging but than the signal became weaker!?
Yes, they did.

Ironically, my phone is giving me grief. It showed my post as duplicated so I deleted one of them, and it turned out it hadn't duplicated at all!
My point was: the police said they were closing in on her phone but the signal was fading as the battery ran down. That's not what they'd say if smartphone features were transmitting GPS coordinates. That's what they'd say if they were measuring the strength of the signal being received by various local mobile towers to pinpoint the location. The GPS stuff IMO is a red herring. Disabled, not functioning or returning inaccurate results, it doesn't seem to be the lead the police were using to track down the phone.
Aunty....I just made a cuppa....waiting for the jug to boil and was laughing to myself at the thought of you running backwards and forwards to your neighbors....lol ...thankyou....have a cuppa yourself xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It can't have been the Castor oil plants - "The castor oil plant is also the source for undecylenic acid, a natural fungicide." BBM
Funny you should say that Aunty, as there's some interesting info on the Aussie Criminals website, stating that GBC did in fact go to not just one, but two doctors (on Saturday 20th I think?). These were separate from the police examinations of his scratches, and apparently not ordered, nor suggested by police. Maybe the first doc didn't fall for his BS, so he sought a second opinion, or rather found another doc to try and back up the bollocks.
There's also info regarding the cut/scratch on his hand, which it seems was not the 'lightbulb moment' that he claimed.
Can confirm Rational...... put in the "pending file"
It may not have been a smartphone then! The only thing we had to suggest it was is GBC's texts about "The app" not working. Maybe there never was one?

Ah, but the Castor Oil Plant gets infested with Caterpillars in our part of the world:

(However I can't find anything which tells me if these caterpillars make you itch ... but wasps like them according to the fact sheet.)
:waitasec:
The news reports explicitly stated it was an iPhone. Gerard may not be the smartest killer ever, but it seems a little preposterous to assume that he'd tell the cops he attempted to use an app to find her if she didn't have an app-capable phone. He was thinking about the phone enough to text her twice before reporting her missing and he specifically mentioned the app in his alibi text. Allison's phone not showing up was part of his narrative.

Every part of the castor oil plant is toxic...however when it is treated and purified, then it (the oil, I think, from my reading) can be made into skin creams for treating ailments.
Sorry, I have to go to work now so don't have time to find any links (I read this info this morning when I was doing the castor oil plant search) but I will look later tonight when I get home.
If anyone else here has time, feel free to look for links! Otherwise I'll do it later![]()
Could this be it?
Castor Slug
Latoia lepida
· It is a sporadic pest.
· The female moth lays flat scaly eggs on the tender parts of the plant in small clusters.
· The full-grown bright green sluggish caterpillar measures 15-25 mm in length with thick short spiny hairs out of rows of warts on the body.
· They are spiny and cause irritation to the human skin during contacts.
· Pupation takes place in a hard greyish cocoon on castor stem or the trunks of its other host plants.
· The pupal period lasts from three to five weeks or more.
· The larvae feed gregariously on the leaves of castor and later spread over to the entire plant.
I feel very positive that they found Allison's phone.
MOO
Here is a MSM journo blog link with some of the court conversation from 22 June which you may not have read in such detail. (It's a real link!!!!)

MOO too. I live within the (broad) triangulated area, between B'kfield & Kholo Crk. I am near a creek, a secluded park, and along an alternative drive to Mt. Crosby Rd. The QPS/SES search for the phone never got anywhere near me. Last I heard it was within 150 m. of the BC house. We haven't heard anything else about it since that day. IMO, if the phone wasn't found, there would have been more searches for it, along Brookfield, Rafting Gr. Rd, Moggill Rd, & even Mt. Crosby Rd. The QPS asked residents within this triangulated area to search their properties, but IMO there are so many unable or uncooperative residents, I would have hoped the search would have continued had they not found the phone. Lots of important info. on there, I think.
