DNA links accused cyberstalker to Texas woman's slaying 17 years ago
''DNA obtained from an accused cyberstalker has led to his arrest in the Texas slaying of a 21-year-old woman 17 years ago.

Andy Castillo, 57, was accused Friday of killing Cynthia Palacio in Lubbock in July 2003, leaving her partially nude body by the side of a rural road.''

''Authorities said they believe Castillo cyberstalked other real estate agents in 20 cities and 10 states, the station reported.

After the arrest, deputies took DNA from Castillo with his consent.

That DNA matched DNA taken from the Palacios crime scene, Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe said at a news conference Friday.''

Correction, will alert mod- thread heading should read he is charged with murdering Cynthia Palacio, and at this time, suspected of involvement with the murder of Linda Trevino Carbajal.

So this guy allegedly cyber- stalks real estate women in 10 different states, solicits children to commit sexual assaults, AND - DNA points to him as the murderer of Cynthia Palacio.
Very interested to know who else he may have harmed, keeping an eye open for missing/ murdered women working in real estate. imo, speculation.

''A recent alert from a DNA database led the Texas Rangers and Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office to focus their attention on Castillo, the DPS said.''

''Castillo, 57, was in the McLennan County Jail in Waco on unrelated charges of criminal solicitation to commit child sexual assault when he was served with the arrest warrant in the Palacio case, the agency said.''

''The case had been linked to the April 2004 killing of 21-year-old Linda Trevino Carbajal, but that case remains under investigation, the agency said. Carbajal was found strangled and with blunt force injuries on a rural road in northern Lubbock County.''

Palacio’s murder is linked to the April 2004 killing of 21-year-old Linda Carbajal, which remains under investigation. Carbajal was found strangled on a rural road in northern Lubbock County, she died from blunt force injuries

DNA Karma!!

Tx. Woman, 21, Was Found Dead on Roadside 17 Years Ago — and Her Alleged Killer Was Just Arrested

Castillo’s arrest came after a DNA sample he agreed to submit after his January arrest allegedly tied him to Palacio’s murder, Lubbock Online News reports.

According to a Lubbock County arrest warrant released Friday, DNA evidence that was collected during an autopsy from Palacio’s thigh, under her nails, on her clothing, and on a necklace she was found wearing allegedly matched Castillo’s DNA, Lubbock Online News reports.

Authorities are also investigating whether Castillo may have killed other women, including Palacio’s roommate, Linda Carbajal, also 21, whose body was found on a remote county road near New Deal on April 19, 2004. Like Palacio, she had been strangled.

DNA evidence showed that the two murders were linked, authorities said at the time, 11 Alive reports.

Now, said Rowe, “If we’re able to confirm that through the same type of DNA test that we were able to do with Ms. Palacio, then it will be, we will make that announcement and file those charges.”

Wait, so this guy murdered Palacio then her roommate in separate incidents? Or am I confused?
IMO.
It seems that both girls, roommates, were murdered a year apart from one another..rbbm.
Authorities: DNA connects McLennan County inmate with 2003 Lubbock murder
''The body of Palacio was discovered on a rural road in southeast Lubbock County on July 15, 2003, with no clothing from the waist down. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Palacio had been strangled.

In the years since her death, investigators have stated Palacio’s death may be tied to the April 2004 murder of Linda Trevino Carbajal, whose body was discovered on a rural dirt road in northern Lubbock County. Carbajal had suffered blunt force injuries and had been strangled.''

''In 2014, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Assistant Chief Deputy Doug Sutton told KCBD-TV that he believes the vehicle that dumped Palacio’s body may have been a pickup or a vehicle with heavy duty tires. Sutton also says it could be the same truck that dumped Linda Carbajal’s body one year later.

Palacio and Carbajal were roommates, born in the same month of the same year, both 21 when they died, and both dumped on remote county roads, Sutton said at the time. Castillo was not charged Wednesday with Carbajal’s homicide.''

Wow. So he basically stalked the one girl for an entire year after he killed her roommate. IMO. That’s some serious psycho stuff! I didn’t realize this detail until reading an excerpt earlier today on this thread. Crazy! JMO.

Andy Castillo indicted, charged with capital murder in Cynthia Palacio’s death

Dec. 1, 2020
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A Lubbock man linked to the 2003 death of Cynthia Palacio has been charged by a grand jury with capital murder.
[.....]
Castillo has also been charged with one count of stalking and two counts of criminal solicitation-aggravated sexual assault of a child.

21-year-old Cynthia Palacio and her roommate, 21-year-old Linda Carbajal, were both murdered in 2003 and 2004, their deaths eventually linked by DNA evidence found at both scenes.
[......]
Castillo is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.

He still hasn't appeared on the court site - but they just give each day hearings. I do look everyday.....

What a disgusting creep.

Man charged in area real estate agent cyber-stalking case indicted for capital murder
Published: Dec. 2, 2020 at 11:49 AM EST
Snips:
Castillo, who was arrested at a Lubbock residence, was initially charged with criminal solicitation to commit aggravated sexual assault of a child, but was later named in a complaint charging stalking, a third-degree felony.

About a half-dozen female agents in the Waco area received sexually explicit photographs sent from cellphone numbers they didn’t recognize as well as photos of their children, evidently copied from social media pages accompanied by descriptions of what the stalker or stalkers would like to do to the children sexually.

The stalker evidently used apps to mask the numbers from which the images and messages were sent, but finally made a mistake, local investigators said.

McLennan County investigators contacted authorities in cities across the country including Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock and San Antonio to determine whether they’ve received similar reports of cyber-stalking targeting female agents.

The local investigation may also link to similar cases in Tucson, Ariz.; Anaheim, Berkley, Irvine, San Jose and Santa Clara, Calif; Broward County and Daytona Beach, Fla.; New Orleans; Reno, Nevada; Albany and Manhattan, N.Y.; Beaufort, S.C.; Seattle, Wash., and Washington, D.C.

Castillo remained in the Lubbock County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $500,000 bond, according to online records.

Sure makes you wonder if all internet trolls are like this.

Man indicted in Lubbock cold-case deaths after DNA collected during Waco stalking investigation

Snips
Castillo, who remains in the Lubbock County Jail, was arrested by McLennan County Sheriff's Office investigators in January on multiple counts of criminal solicitation with intent to commit aggravated sexual assault of a child and stalking, after deputies say he made online threats to Waco-area real estate agents and their children.

McLennan County Sheriff's Office Detective Joseph Scaramucci arrested Castillo on charges he made a series of harassing and sexually explicit phone calls targeting Waco real estate agents. During the investigation, Castillo was tied to similar offenses in several states, then to the deaths in Lubbock, officials said

“This goes to show that gender-based violence, like sex buying or online threats, don’t just stop here,” Scaramucci said after Castillo's arrest. “This man was just an ‘internet troll,’ which confirms that even seeming non-dangerous offenders can be cold-blooded murderers.”

Thanks for the update, this guy is totally whacked, definitely have to keep an eye on real estate rapes and murders right across the country!
Wondering what his thing is about real estate agents, did he start with one and kept it up because it became his tried and true "routine'' , or is there some very specific reason he has allegedly targeted them ( and their children too, yikes) !?
speculation. imo.

Got another article - but it says Server not found - wondering if anyone reading here can access it - maybe a court date in there! Or is it the same as the previous article I posted?
TIA!

The link didn't work for me either until I took the "eu" out of the URL. Try this:

lubbockonline.com/story/news/crime/2020/12/04/capital-murder-arson-among-indictments-returned-tuesday/3827196001/

The only mention of Castillo is this single line:

"Capital murder: Andy Castillo, 57."
