I'm hoping this isn't related & I hate even posting it. Per google maps this is about 2 hrs 15 mins away from Stuttgart.

KNOXVILLE, AR -- A badly burned body has been discovered in a vehicle at Cabin Creek Park in Knoxville.

The body was found around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, a deputy received a report of a vehicle on fire near a pavilion.

The Knoxville Fire Department was called to the scene.

While fighting the fire, the firefighters pried open the trunk of the vehicle, a BMW, and discovered what appeared to be a body inside.

Authorities say more information will be released as it becomes available.

I caught that too. Did I read correctly that it was mom who was sick and in the bedroom the last time she saw her daughter?

Still catching up but there are already holes and inconsistencies in the story from mom and her bf. Have the neighbors been interviewed? Anyone here or see anything after the friend dropped her off?

Cassie is a prettier, younger mini-me of her mother. I don't like where my suspicions are going with this.

Not sure if this has been mentioned: according to Tracy (Cassie's BFF mom) on JVM Judy (Cassie's mom) boyfriend told them that he called that night to report her missing & he was told he had to wait 72-48 hours to report someone. According to Tacy, LE told her he hadn't even called!!!!

Cops will know he's lying if he is. He's screwed

The casinos have some pretty direct routes of travel between Stuttgart and where they are located. I wonder if local LE contacted the FBI or there is an element to this case that is federal in nature? It is a good move-the resources of the feds have to be greater than the ones of local LE so I bet the partnership will be a strong one.

Any chatter about the Halloween Fundraiser tied to this?

Let's get into fundraising laws in Arkansas:

According to the AG's website all charities that solicit donations in Arkansas must register and file annual informational returns with the Attorney General. The exceptions rule applies to any organization that intends to or accumulates less thank 25K in the course of the year PROVIDED none of the money is used to pay expenses or salaries for any person operating the charitable fund. So my understanding of this as a layperson is that any money accumulated for Cassie's fund can not be distributed to anyone who is listed on the account as an officer....and the fund could be used to pay for flyers perhaps, but not for gas money or expenses for her family.

Now in order to be exempted from registering, a group that solicits donations has to apply for exemption. Hopefully the folks who established this fund have done the exemption paperwork or the registration paperwork.
Although certain organizations are exempted from registering with the Attorney General’s office, the organizations must apply for exemption by filing the applicable exemption form. The following organizations or persons can apply for exemption: religious organizations, educational institutions, political candidates and organizations, government organizations, nonprofit hospitals, charitable organizations that do not intend to receive contributions in excess of $25,000, or any person who benefits solely for the benefit of exempt organizations
.

Do I have that right do you think?

Where things get really tricky is when people start sending money across state lines due to fundraisers established on social media. If you choose to contribute to a fund like this, I strongly suggest you contribute by check or that you request a receipt for tax reporting purposes.

Surely there is an enterprising reporter who would be willing to do some in depth reporting on this case....there are so many angles that would be very helpful for the public to know. Most importantly it would benefit Cassie!

Where are you honey?

OK, so far I see only two charities registered in Arkansas and both expired. Maybe the paperwork is in process.

Here is a link to what constitutes a charitable organization in Arkansas and what the legal definition of solicitation is:
http://law.justia.com/codes/arkansa...le-3/chapter-28/subchapter-4/section-4-28-401

(1) "Charitable organization" means any person:(A) Who is or holds himself or herself out to be established for:
(i) Any benevolent, educational, philanthropic, humane, scientific, patriotic, social welfare or advocacy, public health, environmental conservation, civic, or other eleemosynary purpose; or
(ii) The benefit of law enforcement personnel, fire fighters, or other persons who protect the public safety; or
(B) Who in any manner employs a charitable appeal as the basis of any solicitation or an appeal which has a tendency to suggest there is a charitable purpose to any solicitation;
(5) "Contribution" means the grant, promise, or pledge of money, credit, property, financial assistance, or other thing of value in response to a solicitation;

(B) "Solicitation" shall be deemed to occur when the request is made, at the place the request is received, whether or not the person making the request actually receives any contribution and includes, without limitation, the following methods of requesting a contribution:(iii) The distribution, circulation, posting, or publishing of any handbill, written advertisement, or other publication which directly or by implication seeks to obtain public support;

While looking around I found a few photos that were different from all the rest that I've seen and thought others here may appreciate them. The different hair color, facial scar, the smile, and one where she does look older than 15...

Given that Cassie was 15, that is still some significant scarring.

I am still maxxed out on tags-would someone please add that there is a reward being offered? Many thanks...

done believe09.

The fundraising is being done by whom? Parents? Friend's mom? Because if it's mom and BF I have concerns.

I actually have a huge issue with the language. Burial expenses? Recovery searches? What's going on here?

This child was allegedly last seen alive by one of her closest friends and walking into her residence on a normal Sunday evening. Her alleged last communication, a text about going to get cigarettes.

Sounds like a perfectly normal 15 yr old to me. How, when, and most importantly WHY has Cassie's community taken this approach to her disappearance?

And why the heck is LE not addressing any of these concerns? Why has there been no effort to get an accurate physical description out to the public? No description of her cell phone??

I agree Oriah. The wording seems rather . . .

I don't even know how to describe how off that is. I mean I can understand in this day and age wanting to reassure people what funds being raised are intended for. People ask this sort of thing. But surely another more tactful way could have been found to assure folks contemplating giving that these funds will benefit Cassie or be used solely on her behalf and not be used by any others?

Wow! Yes... The wording of uses of the funds is insensitive at best....

JMO...

Finally a new article:

The Stuttgart Police Department, Arkansas State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are all still involved in Compton's search.

"Assistant Chief Steven Bobo with Stuttgart PD said, at first, Compton was considered a runaway until past leads contradicted that.

"This has been the hardest case that I've had to work just because of the simple fact that if anybody that, if anybody that has kids understands, that this is devastating to that family," he said.

.....He said at the moment police were actively pursuing some leads, but if they did not find anything they would start the search over.

Compton's case had become a top priority for the department. :loveyou:
