Boyfriend certainly has friends in high places. Why does his lawyer care if there is a full coronial hearing into the matter? If it answers some nagging questions, what is the harm to him?

"However, barrister Elizabeth Brimer, who is acting for Antony Hampel, Phoebe's boyfriend at the time of her death, said a full hearing wasn't necessary.

"There isn't a basis for that level of satisfaction [that a murder occurred]," Ms Brimer told the coroner."

exactly. And in fact, wouldn't you expect your boyfriend to leave no stone unturned in finding out how your partner died? If there were doubts about whether it was a suicide, wouldn't he want to know who could have been responsible for this?? Not unless he is I guess. This looks EXTREMELY dodgy and I hope they can get something on him.

The inquest into the death of 24-year-old Phoebe Handsjuk has been told it is unlikely she committed suicide.

A colleague of Mr Hampel also took to the stand on Friday and denied claims he repeatedly visited the concierge who made the grisly discovery.

The concierge, Betal Ozulup, on Monday, told the coroner she was visited by an acquaintance of Mr Hampel's as often as every second day over two weeks when she had returned to work following the death.

Ms Ozulup told the court she was told it had been a suicide and was questioned about her memories of that afternoon by Christo van Egmond, a long time acquaintance, neighbour and colleague of Mr Hample's.

"He said, 'She couldn't be saved, she didn't want to be saved'," she said.

But giving evidence on Friday, Mr van Egmond, an entertainment executive, told the coroner he only remembered approaching Ms Ozulup once after the tragedy.

"I only recall speaking to her when she reappeared back at work," he told the court.

"I went and spoke to her to see if she was OK and to commend her for coming back to work.

"I thought that was very brave."

Mr van Egmond accepted that he had given Ms Ozulup wine and chocolates around that time, but said it was a Christmas gift because he "felt sorry for her”.

"A SMEAR of blood found in the apartment of Phoebe Handsjuk and bruising on her wrists could indicate she was murdered and did not commit suicide, her grandfather told her inquest."

"Ms Handsjuk lived at the complex with her boyfriend Antony Hampel, 45, the son of former Supreme Court judge George Hampel and the stepson of current County Court judge Felicity Hampel."

"Mr Campbell also said he was suspicious of Ms Handsjuk's boyfriend, and instructed Phoebe's mother Natalie to record a conversation with him in the days after her death."

"Campbell also said a text message sent to family members from Ms Handsjuk's phone had been fabricated and designed to give the suicide theory plausibility."

"TWO witnesses have told the inquest of Melbourne woman Phoebe Handsjuk that her boyfriend's behaviour was "strange" or "unusual" in the days after her death.

"(Mr) Hampel continued to cry. I observed there were no tears running down his face, nor did it appear there had been any at all," Det O'Brien said.
"Hampel was sniffling yet there was no sign of mucous or snot coming from his nose. His eyes were not blood shot or red and his face appeared quite normal."

Mr Hampel's longtime friend Vanessa Levin said the couple had relationship problems and he could "come across as possibly verbally aggressive".
Ms Levin also said she was "shocked" at Hampel's "unusual" behaviour after her death and he appeared to enjoy the 100 mourners who visited."

"Police are no closer to solving the mysterious death of Phoebe Handsjuk, who plunged 12 storeys to her death down the garbage chute of her apartment building.

But investigators say they have no more suspicions about a man captured on closed circuit TV at the Balencea apartment building in St Kilda Road on December 2, 2010, the day the 24-year-old died."

Coroner's inquest examines whether Phoebe Handsjuk's mysterious death was sinister or a tragic suicide

OCTOBER 19, 2013

It has the hallmarks of a murder mystery.

A beautiful young woman is found dead at the bottom of a rubbish chute in her luxury building. She meets her death 12 floors below the apartment she shared with her much older boyfriend, a man with family ties to respected members of Victoria's judiciary.

But after an inquest spanning more than two months, a coroner is now pondering whether police who ruled the death of 24-year-old Phoebe Handsjuk a tragic suicide were right all along.

Victoria overhaul it's whole system. Police, sentencing and parole board. Nothing surprises us here in Victoria. If you are a nobody you are treated as a criminal. 18 months ago I came home from working night shift to find my husband sitting onthe couch deceased. Being a nurse I knew that he was was not to be moved without a death certificate. Rang 000 who sent the police. Two female police officers came and were very nice and understanding. My husband's death was expected as he had an aneurysm that could have burst at any time. Then the horror started when an older police man arrived. Demanded that I leave because it was a crime scene. Then demanded to know where the knives and tablets were. Daughters and son in law arrived and were not allowed in the house but were all taken separately and quizzed on who they were and where they had been at the time of the death. I was interrogated to why I had not asked for an ambulance. I explained that my husband had been deceased for at least an hour. The two female police officers were trying to explain that I was a nurse but he was not interested. I was vindicated when the autopsy showed it was death from a burst aneurysm. I am a nobody so that was how I was treated and it is still with me. But if my parents were judges, I'm sure I would havebeen treated differently.

Chute death woman argued with boyfriend, inquest hears

August 21, 2013

"Phoebe Handsjuk argued with her boyfriend and wanted to end their relationship in the weeks before she fell to her death down a rubbish chute, an inquest has heard.

A long-term friend of Antony Hampel told the Coroners Court that Ms Handsjuk had three times told her of a determination to break up with him in the two months before she plunged down a chute outside her 12th-floor apartment on December 2, 2010.

Vanessa Levin also doubted Ms Handsjuk, 24, wanted to take her own life given how much she loved her family and her excitement about a European holiday with her boyfriend despite issues with him."

"Phoebe Inquest update.

The last scheduled hearing date for the inquest into Phoebe’s death was 9th October. The Coroner then declared the inquest ‘closed’. "

So sad to read this on Phoebe's Facebook page.
