An arrest warrant has been issued for entertainer Bill Cosby for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple employee Andrea Constand at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion in January 2004, Montgomery County District Attorney-Elect Kevin Steele said at a Wednesday press conference.

Cosby is expected to be arraigned later this afternoon in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.

"A prosecutor's job is to follow the evidence wherever it leads and whenever it comes to light," Steele said. "Upon examination of all the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of the victim."

Steele said that Constant "came to consider Mr. Cosby her victim and her friend."

I'd guess the new evidence has to do with the civil suit depos and the tons of women who have come out to testify that he has a pattern of this behavior.

Prosecutors reopened the case over the summer as damaging testimony was unsealed in Constand's related civil lawsuit against Cosby and as dozens of other women came forward with similar accusations that made a mockery of his image as the wise and understanding Dr. Cliff Huxtable from TV's The Cosby Show.

Castor indicated that there was something in the civil suit depositions that the prosecutors weren't aware at the time.

This might have something to do with it

Cosby has previously said what happened between him and Constand was consensual, but in new court filings last summer Constand said she was in a relationship with a woman at the time. She also called Cosby a "narcissist" who missed cues that she's gay.

I wonder if proof has been unearthed that BC and/or his lawyer covered up the truth or convinced someone to lie or cover it up for him.
Or, perhaps what seems to be impossible to prosecute is no longer, given the number of women who can testify to similar experiences of being drugged and raped by BC.

Montgomery County first assistant district attorney Kevin Steele said that the first-degree felony charge stemmed from a sexual assault that took place in early 2004 in Cosby’s home. Steele said that the victim “came to consider Mr Cosby her mentor and her friend” after the two met through her work at Temple University.

Steele said the victim was penetrated without her consent while she was impaired. “There is not a question in terms of pills being provided to her, there’s not a question as to what went on, of the digital penetration,” Steele said.

So it's actually a second degree felony that Cosby is charged with, not the first degree felony that was stated in the press conference. They're already screwing up.

During last CNN segment on the case - speculation about whether Cosby would appear in court or only attorney/s who represent him. If BC is currently in Philadelphia, he would probably appear, but if on the west coast or out of the country, won't be in court.
