HCSO seeks help finding two missing persons

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help to locate two missing persons last known to be at a property in the Berg Road area.

Bailey Faye Aralene Blunt, age 28, was reported missing on Sept. 25, 2023. Blunt was last seen on September 22 when she reportedly went to retrieve her belongings from a property on Berg Road, off State Route 299, associated with her ex-boyfriend 24-year-old Tyler Thomas Burrow.

On September 26, a family member of Burrow’s contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report him missing. According to the family member, their last phone contact with Burrow was on September 23. Repeated attempts to call him have gone unanswered. Neither Blunt nor Burrow were located at the Berg Road property when checked by friends and family.

Blunt’s green Dodge Ram (CA License Plate Number 8T73126) was detected by a license plate reader in the Redding area on September 24. No additional detections of the vehicle have been received.

Blunt and Burrow’s whereabouts are unknown.

Bailey Blunt is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Tyler Burrow is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, 220 pounds, with red/brown hair, hazel eyes and a beard.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding Blunt or Burrow’s possible whereabouts is asked to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251, reference case numbers 20230449 and 202304457.

HCSO Public Information Officer Samantha Karges told NewsWatch 12 the pickup thought to be with Blunt and Burrow was observed 11:05 a.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, on a traffic camera in Central Point, Oregon. She says the dark green pickup with a white hood and a load of firewood in its bed showed up on a traffic camera at the intersection of East Pine Street and Hamrick Road near Interstate 5.

Karges says, "The vehicle was occupied, however it was unclear who was in the vehicle or how many persons were present."

From an article today it looks like Tyler has an active warrant out that's not related to this case. But might add to why he isn't around?

"The reason Baroni’s so concerned is she says Bailey and Tyler’s relationship has been a tumultuous one.

“They had a very volatile relationship,” she told NBC5. “Bailey wasn’t innocent in it at all you know. They both were nasty to each other.”

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office says Tyler is not currently suspected of a crime related to Bailey’s disappearance. While there is an active warrant out for his arrest in Trinity County, they say it is not related to the missing person investigation."

If she knew enough to warn her current boyfriend that something bad could happen to her, then I really wish she had asked him to go with her or not even bothered retrieving her stuff. :(

It's very concerning that the ex was still in contact the following day. I wonder why her loved ones waited so long to report her missing.

Tyler has been added to NamUs.

I also noticed their profiles on NamUs and came to see if there was a thread. I hope they are both safe, but it actually sounds like a terrible situation.
It sounds like he purposely went on the run, but I think LE is eventually going to find him. JMO.

I wonder if there's been an arrest or if they found him deceased. This kind of situation, could have gone either way.

I just hope that they find Bailey. I think the chance of her still being alive is vanishingly small.

MOO
I can’t find official updates, but IMO he was found alive. Keeping an eye on his FB missing page, perhaps there will be an update there.

He was arrested and is currently in the Jackson County, OR jail:

Bailey's family is organizing a search party for Nov 18.

Despite their fears that this search attempt is a body recovery, the family is determined to find Bailey before winter sets in, launching a search party scheduled for November 18th. They are urging the public to join the effort, emphasizing the importance of covering vast areas near Hwy 299 before inclement weather complicates search efforts.

Detective Taylor has advised the search party to focus on public lands, respecting private property boundaries. The family is hopeful that the community will rally behind them, aiding in the search for Bailey and providing any information that may lead to her whereabouts.

*********
Those interested in joining the search party can meet at the Willow Creek Fire Department on November 18th at 10 am. Additional details are available on the “Bring Bailey Home Search Party” Facebook event page.

The search scheduled for Nov 18 has been called off.

*******
Tuesday, Nov. 14, near Trail, Ore., came after a hunter who had been in the area contacted Blunt’s sister Steffany Baroni, who had been coordinating a public search, and told her of finding an encampment in the woods.

She passed that information on to sheriff’s investigators in Oregon’s Jackson County, she told the North Coast news site Redheaded Blackbelt, and they found Burrow near the site, about 30 miles north of Central Point

*********
They also found Blunt’s dog, Hank, and her pickup truck, which had been spray-painted black, Baroni said.

A search party that Blunt’s family had organized for Saturday, Nov. 18, has been called off, Baroni’s Facebook page says.

Coming late into this thread but obviously none of this sounds good.

I just hope that they find Bailey. I think the chance of her still being alive is vanishingly small.
Unfortunately I have to agree.

Scenarios involving a relationship breakup, then the female goes missing, takes place MUCH too often in our society IMO. I can't begin to count the number of similar cases here on WS in recent years.

MOO, but when involved in such a potentially dangerous scenario it makes no sense for a person to try and retrieve personal items by themselves. It's just not worth the risk.

“He still had the truck. He still had the dog. He had spray painted the truck black,” Blunt’s sister SB said. “From what I heard from people in Jackson County, he was going by a different name while he was there.”

We reached out to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office where investigator Jennifer Taylor is assigned to Bailey’s disappearance.

She told us that efforts have been made in finding Blunt saying “We have conducted numerous search operations, some of which were done with cadaver dogs. We have spoken to numerous individuals in hopes that they would have information that could shed light on what happened to bailey.”

Baroni and the Nor-Cal Alliance for the Missing are offering a reward to find Blunt.

“We put another $5,000 reward for the location of where we can find Blunt’s body. We’re not looking for retribution at this point. We just want to be able to bring her home,” Baroni said.
